Taking our seats in our newly painted logs, we begin the journey in a bayou riverbank (Light Green), and take off, eventually reaching a mill. In this mill, we climb a waterfall, and emerge in another, marshy riverbank. Here, we hear an instrumental version of “Almost There”. After an outdoor loop, we reach a small waterfall. This is our entrance to the bayou,

At the bottom of the drop, we enter the marsh through a curtain of cypress trees, and the first thing we come across is a small group of critters singing along with the song, very reminiscent of how the geese sing How Do You Do right now.

Rounding the corner, Almost There fades as we find Tiana and Naveen standing in a boat, with Louis the Alligator waving at us from the water’s depths. Tiana (Clutching a lantern) and Naveen (Aimlessly rowing) are lost amid the swamp trying to make their way to a Mardi Gras event, as Louis mentions that he’s unable to locate his trumpet.

Through another curtain of cypress, we find two more critters (Possibly Brer Raccoon/Porcupine redressed) singing a song about “Being aware of the shadow man” as a silhouette of Louie chases his trumpet across the stream.

Emerging from the trees (Formerly the Rabbit Trap), we float through more of the bayou as various critters chatter from the trees and water about the upcoming Mardi Gras party. At various points, Louis pops up from behind and around props as he searches for his trumpet (Think Jack Sparrow in Pirates)

Coming up to an old tree, Louie’s butt is seen sticking out of a hole as he’s wedged himself in pretty good as he tries to retrieve his trumpet, which is just out of reach. Suddenly, the laugh of Dr. Faciellier is heard as a loud CRACK sounds, breaking the tree and sending Louis (and us) tumbling into the depth of the bayou.

At the bottom of the drop (orange) Louis finds himself stuck in a thicket of bushes as he rolls around trying to shake them off (an homage to Brer Bear in that spot) as fireflies dance around him, and Ray calls out to us to follow him, causing us to dip down another small drop.

At the bottom, we encounter the entire firefly family singing Goin’ Down the Bayou as we float towards a mysterious dark patch in the swamp. The moment we cross into the dark, Dr. Facillier himself appears where Brer Rabbit and Brer Fox are at the bottom of the hill using a Hatbox Ghost effect to appear out of the blackness and taunts us with “Are ya ready? Are ya ready?!” As his voodoo magic pulls us up the hill, shadows of his masks sing Friends On the other.

A shadow of Facilier menaces us where Br’er Fox’s cave currently is. Before he can do any real harm, Mama Odie pops up and fires her magic at him, sending us down the big drop.

Back outside (Light green again), we float through a riverside as an instrumental of Dig a Little Deeper plays. We enter the show building again (Purple) to find ourselves amid a Mardi Gras party in the center of New Orleans. Tiana and Naveen again, aboard a steam boat, all singing Dig a Little Deeper. A little ways downstream, where Br’er Fox/Gator currently are, Facilier is being swallowed whole by his mask, recreating the sequence from the film. The ride ends with Louis once again searching for his trumpet.

I would have added “Never Knew I Needed” to the ride, albeit now sung by the characters. Would be interesting to finally let the cast sing that big number.
