Ok, plans are to arrive on a Fri- go the beach, Sat- Tue go to disney parks, Wed-Thur do discovery cove and seaworld. Leave on friday. Sooo I was just going to book a week at an on site resort but since the last 3 days aren't going to be spent in disney should I stay off site? Would that be cheaper do you think? Anyone done something like this before?

We own a timeshare offsite so we never stay on Disney property. There are pros and cons to staying onsite vs. offsite and vice versa. First, are you driving or flying? If you're flying, are you renting a car? My guess is since you plan on visiting Sea World and Discovery Cove you will have a car.

The pros to staying on property are transportation to all four Disney parks and you're surrounded by the Disney magic 24/7. The biggest con to staying on property is the cost. I don't know what your budget is, but this may be an issue when determining your lodging. If you're thinking about staying offsite, I would suggest looking into renting a house. This may be a cheaper alternative to a hotel and will afford you more room. In addition, most of the homes have pools and best of all washers and dryers. This is great because it cuts down on the amount you have to pack. You can also keep a few groceries around. Food on Disney property is expensive in the parks and at the resorts.

If you want to stay on Disney property, decide how much your budget is for lodging. You will also need to think about what you want in a room. For example, would you like to have a refrigerator in your room. If so, you will probably want to stay at a moderate or deluxe resort as they come equipped with refrigerators.

Here are some websites that will help you with your planning.....

I hope this helped you. Good luck with your planning!

If only you'd put this in your other post

For a first time visit with such young kids I honestly think that you're trying to do too much in such a short time.

Skip the beach and skip Discovery Cove. Do SeaWorld in the middle of your stay to slow the pace down.

Things to bear in mind - Magic Kingdom and EPCOt are both "2 day parks", MGM will take you a further day and Animal kingdom up to a day (that is presuming that the crowds are low). So thats 6 days gone already.

I'd revise your plans and take time for the kids to have "time out" back at the resort pool - you don't want to burn them out to soon as a tired family are an unhappy family.

Staying offsite will save you money pn your accomodation - but you have to build more travelling time into your schedules.

Staying onsite is a more Magical experience.

Ok everyone keeps telling me we are doing to much:veryconfu but I doubt we will ever be back to FL anytime soon and I don't wnat to miss out on stuff. I think one day at each park will be ok, we may skip MGM all together with a 1 year old and go to MK 2 days. Epcot will definetly be a one day thing with the kids I think. So I am sticking to my oringinal plans...lol...:) :(
So should we stay onsite and pay for dining plan for all those days if we only plan to be at the world for 5 days tops?? Or should we stay at the world for 4 nights and the rest some place else? lol..I am so overwhelmed with options! lol.

As you're determined to cram as much in as possible, I'd stay on site. You may wish to reconsider the Dining Plan as you're missing three days at WDW there's little point in paying for meals that you know that you won't be taking

I think if you don't plan on spending all your time at WDW then offsite will probably be the best idea. It will most likely be cheaper to stay and on your nondisney days it will be easier to get around and you can find cheaper food offsite. I would also agree with the previous poster who said you should look into renting a house or condo.
I think since all families travel differently you shouldn't listen to anyone who tells you that you are planning too much. I don't think you will know til you get down there whether or not you planned too much. After a few days of parks you might be too tired to want to have another park day or you might not but you won't know til you get there. It is totally possible to do everything you plan to do if everyone is in the mood and ready to hit the ground running, but thats not always the case.
