I bought this game recently. Just a warning to everyone: The story mode is short but difficult. At least in the PS2 version. I finished it in 12 hours. I am currently confused though. I am in part 2 at the moment. I have to get 50,000 hero points (you get about 15-30 per bad guy, 100-150 per side mission. What happens at the end of it? Is it worth getting all the hero points? Are there any "shortcuts"/ missions with high point payouts?

Overall, What are your thoughts on the game?

I like the game alot. I'm about half-way to the 50,000 mark. I know the 50,000 allows you to buy level 8 webswing which gives you the Speed Freak award. I'm not sure what else that does for you. If you want to get some good hero points, you really should unlock the battle arena if you haven't already. After buying it for about 5,000 you can go to the warehouse you first battle Shocker in and it will give you a group of badguys to beat. The more you fight, the harder they get, until they eventually have the boss characters in with some of the regular baddies. Then if you get further, I think I heard there is a round that has Rhino, Shocker, Doc Ock and one other badguy that I don't think you normally run into and you have to fight all four of them together. There was a nice touch that I saw when cruising around the city and that was the inclusion of the lights at Ground Zero that shine the columns into the air in place of the Twin Towers. That was really cool.

I'm thinking of buying this game (for PS2)... I really enjoyed the first one! Is this one anything like the first? Worse? Better?

Comments appreciated...

I liked it better than the first one. Don't get me wrong, the first one was fun, but this one doesn't kill you for dropping to street level. Plus it has some badguy "hideouts" that you can raid to get the hideout tokens. There are different types of tokens scattered throughout the city(hideout, skyscraper, bouy) there are aslo challenges that have you race around the city which can be neat if you are tired of just beating up badguys. And since the story is techinically non-linear you are not required to just go from point A to point B, you can just ignore the story for awhile and go do what you want. Oh, and if you go near the top of the Chrysler Buliding, where the eagle head type things are sticking out and walk around there, you see some green feathers from when you fought Vulture there in the first game, just a neat Easter Egg there.

I like the Spider-Man 2 game ofr PS2. However, a have a bit of a problem with the game at the moment. I don't know if anyone can help with this problem, but it's worth a shot. Any of you who have a PS2 version of the game, I have a problem, that when I go through the beginning(the opening credits), it stops and freezes. Can anyone help with this problem? I tried cleaning the CD, and it works now, but it is really slow and it still freezes up.

How old is your PS2? I'm not having any problems with mine like that at the moment and I got mine day 1 of their existence on the market, but there are people that I know that did start having trouble with their system. One thing you might want to try is not just cleaning the CD, but get a lens cleaner for the PS2 itself. I do occasionally run across skipping on DVDs and an occasional goof with a game, but that usually clears it up.

Thanks for the advice! Just bought the game and let me tell ya, it was worth every penny! I was blown away by the feeling of swinging through NYC! Once I got the hang of the controls this game became one of my instant favorites! :)

Thanks for talking me into buying it! :king:

You're welcome. Glad we could help. Now I'm playing Madden NFL 2005 CE. What an awesome football game. I compared it to the new ESPN NFL 2K5 since I bought that a couple of weeks ago and I'm just blown away by how much more fluid the motion of the players and the gameplay in general are in comparison. Madden is probably the best sports game out there right now.
