Spice Road Table

I'm thinking it will be open prior to Christmas week. As the crowds in December become increasingly busy, I would think Disney would want to have as many restaurants open as possible.

It is still under construction, so certainly doesn't seem to be imminent. However, it does not look a long way off.

No. So why they have three restaurants now... Nobody knows. Same as Mexico, I guess. Spice Road Table is a way to milk Illuminations I s'pose.

I think the 3 restaurants offer experiences and menus that are sufficiently unique to justify there being three of them. I'm just grateful that my favorite CS in Epcot won't be going away. :)

ugh. one more building cluttering up the WS. Blocking lagoon views, monetizing Illuminations a little bit more.

Besides, Morocco is the one country that needed another food option the least. You can get a reservation at Restaurant Marakesh anytime you want. And there is never a wait at Tangerine.

I think I'll reserve judgement on just how much visual impact this has on Illuminations viewing till I see it. If I recall, which isn't too easy, the view of the lagoon from that area wasn't all that great due to one of the lagoon's islands being in between the pavilion and the center of the water. Further, the restaurant is sitting where there already was a good deal of structure already which a good portion of the new structure actually being over the wall from the walkway.
I agree that Morocco didn't need more food options, however, I think a great deal of the reasoning of the Marrakesh availability is location and a general fear of the unknown when it comes to Morrocan food. Tangerine and Marrakesh are two of my favourite stops though, I'm hopeful Spice Road will do well.

I agree; something right against the lagoon (much like in Mexico) isn't too nice. There isn't enough direct access for all the people watching Illuminations as it is. But at least in Disney's defense, this was a "dead area" in front of Morocco. And one of my favorite countries to photograph is Morocco... So now there's more stuff to shoot. Time will tell just how "intrusive" it is.

The alternative would've been going sideways - and that would kibosh any potential for future countries for sure. Not that there's a ton of room on either side, but nevertheless...
