Spice Road and Illuminations

I have made a reservation for Spice Road at 8:05 on a Saturday night (April 2). I have read that this is a great way to get a good seat for Illuminations.

Do we all agree about this? Is there a chance we'll wind up behind a pillar or at a bad angle or something? Or am I being paranoid?

I'd say you're not being paranoid. There are quite a few seats, both inside and out, that provide lousy viewing for IllumiNations. If the choice were mine, I'd have dinner and then go outside and find a good spot. Barring that, ask to sit outside and near the water.
