From the WDW gondola thread....
And I wouldn't be surprised, now that the cat is out of the bag, if Uni has an announcement of it's own very soon.

Anything you know that you might like to share Disneyhead? :)

I know there has been much talk about a possible Uni tram system for the yet to be started (and maybe never to be started) airport to conference center light rail. Could Uni be pitching a gondola system to city of Orlando instead?

Maybe I could see Orlando granting a right-of-way via Uni Blvd from Wet-n-Wild to the existing parks, but would it even be possible to get a right-of-way all the way to the new park land?

Right of ways are tricky.

Privately owned land is up for sale as far as rights to go over it. One person says no and you're done.

Agreed. But I was wondering if Uni could do it down the middle of Uni Blvd. Uni agrees to build/pay for it, and Orlando ends up with free public transit on Uni Blvd. Similar to what happened with Disney Drive and the parking garage at DLR (except Anaheim stupidly payed for it).

Pure speculation again, but maybe that's how the Orlando Eye ended up with that piece of land if Uni was given some future right of way to link it all together.

I think UNI has already bought right of way, but not over Universal Blvd. OR Not Just Universal Blvd. There may be a tram style transit system connecting Uni if what I'm thinking about another piece of land is correct...

Florida has rather expansive public records laws. Easements, right-of-ways and land purchases would have to be recorded somewhere. Then there would have to be discussions and agreements with the City and State (going over I-4) and even the County if the connection is to be made to the recently acquired large property to the south.

Over the past few years, Universal has declared war on I-drive in a number of ways (some that haven't been reported). I'd assume there's enough pent up anger over their lordship of the region that other businesses would put the screws to Universal if they tried to acquire rights of way near their businesses. Especially if it's for a project to send guests over their businesses on I-drive to another area- essentially cutting those business off from traffic between the parks.

Look at what's happening in Anaheim...
