i was just wondering which nightime parade people liked beter.

i personally prefer spectro more because it is what i grew up with and the whole synthisizer thing of mesp is annoying to me.

I like Spectro, but I still prefer the MSEP (that's only for WDW parades... the Tokyo version of Fantillusion still takes the cake for me)

Spectro, because I have so many memories of that particular parade. MSEP is special to my parents, but I can't remember much of it...though I like the music.

Why are people saying that their memories are based on Spectromagic over MSEP? It seems to me that any person about 21 years of age or older would have grown up watching the MSEP, and then Spectromagic. Granted "older" adults would be more familiar with MSEP, it did have a healthy run at the Magic Kingdom. I guess Spectromagic still seems "new" to me. The music for MSEP should be placed in the Smithsonian. It holds a spcial place in the hearts of thousands - me included.

"Ladies and gentlemen boys and girls, Disneyland proudly presents our spectacular festival pageant of nighttime magic and imagination, in thousands of sparkling lights, and electrosynthemagnetic musical sounds, the main street electrical parade."

Did I get it?

:D MSEP By far the best---- Spectro is a little scary-- and the music is not so memorable. ( my grandson was a little afraid of the dolls? with the light up faces) Spectro also seems to have a lot more gaps in the parade, at least the times I have seen it. Also I have found it missing a few floats every time.

Can some one tell me WHY!!!! they have to come right up on the end of the parade with the ropes and taking up the poles?? I have been trying to record the parade and everytime it is close to the end you have all the workers, CM'S? one foot from the end!!! I have a lot of pictues of PEOPLE'S heads instead of Minney and the other characters who ALL seem to be on the end float!! or walking beside it. Hummmmmmm

I know they have to do it, but could they be at least 3-4 feet back!!?? I can never see, or enjoy the end of the parade!! ARGH!!!!:fork:  :lookaroun

That's a hard decision for me, but I would have to go with MSEP. It was so beautiful and very nostalgic. I like Spectro a lot as well, but it seems very monotonus at times (50 SpectroMen on spinning globes followed by 50 dancing butterflies, followed by 50 giant fish....).

I grew up with MESP and my kids are growing up with Spectro. I like the interaction we've experienced with Spectro and my boys to be more fun.

tigsmom....I agree it is much louder then MESP. However, my younger boy could always fall asleep before it was over. Only to be awakened by butterflies tickling his belly. He would fall back asleep and miss the Haunted Mansion though. This will be his first year awake (I hope) for the Mansion.

I love them both. But I think i would have to pick SpectroMagic for the main purpose is that the song is so catchy. I sing it all the time and if I am not totally sure of the words I just through some glimmering and shimmering in and it works fine. And spectromagic just always tears me up and MSEP never did.
I do agree a lot of people are scared of the clown/doll thingies. Including my 22 year old sister. I think she watch poltergist when she was way too young and has flashbacks everytime she sees them.

I grew up with MSEP, but once i saw Spectro, i relized how much of a better show it is. The music of Spectro is just outstanding. In my mind there is not a whole lot of difference between the two. It's the music that makes the parade for me. Spectromagic is one of the best nightime parades i've ever seen.

I didn't remember MSEP as a child, just that I saw parades when I went to the park. When the MK brought it back a few years ago, I didn't like it nearly as much as I do Spectro, which I'm glad is back now :-)

Question though: last time I saw Spectro(last year I presume) CHENABOG was not working or not in the parade? Does still hold true or am I blind/stupid/saw it on a off night?

LOL

The last time i was there (oct 2001) the Chernabog float was in the parade, but it was not functioning. I remember seeing it coming toward us, i was just watching and waiting and then...nothing.

:( When I saw it in June, Chenabog, was not working/missing!! What was really bad/confusing is that the part before it was still in the parade.??

I had just told the people I was standing with about it as they had a small child and I though it might scare her and---- the preview cast members came---- and "NO" Chenabog??? Very confusing. Everone was saying what was that???? I guess the parade starter/people did not think about taking out the other part???

the problem with chernabog is that it requires 2 drivers to operate it... so if they are short staffed on drivers, that float will go down, rather than 2 other floats
