Speck's 5/7 Trip to the Magic Kingdom

Hey folks!

I have just returned from a great day at the Magic Kingdom, and I thought I would share.

A little background:
The Magic Kingdom was once my Favorite park. My first time going to WDW was over Christmas break in 1992, I was 16, and it was a school band trip. On this trip, I was early in a relationship, and so in love:rolleyes: , or at least the type of love you have at 16:brick: . Anyway, the girl was not really into Epcot (which is now and has been for a while my favorite park) and MGM was pre-Sunset Blvd, and was at that time, IMO, a half day park. Needless to say, most of our time was spent at MK. It was great, Splash Mountain was just a few months old, and of course it was busy, it was Christmas week. Well, as I got older and wiser:rolleyes: , I started to dislike the MK simply because of the huge crowds, the kids in strollers, and most of all THEIR PARENTS!

Anyway, now that I am even older:cry: , and I have learned to enjoy the ineveitable, I thought I would give MK another try...I have not been their in quite some time.

The purpose of this trip also was to experience some of the attractions that I never had bothered with, like the Train, the Hall of Presidents, and the CoP. I also wanted to see the three new attractions that I had not yet experienced, Buzz Lightyear's..., Mickey's Philharmagic, and Wishes.

I hope you are still with me here:wave:

Ok, So I left my apartment about noon, and got to the main gate of MK about 12:45, I was a little delayed because the Monorail had overshot the TCT station a bit and had to back-up...oops.

Once I got in, I headed to the Train (no wait) and took it round trip back to Main Street. I had thought someone on the boards had said the Toontown Fair staion was being replaced, but it has not been touched. The train ride was fun.

I then went to Space Mountain and got a Fastpass. The standby line was only 25 minutes, but the Fastpass entry time was also only 25 minutes away, so I took the fastpass and went for a spin on the TTA, which was nice, I was the only one in the train.

Afterwards, I went over to the CoP. Considering the age of this attraction, it is pretty neat technology. The theater was about 95% full. I would love to see this ride moved to Epcot, I think that it would fit in great there.

After that, off to Space Mountain, I rode up front, and the family of 5 on the train with me had never ridden before, and were screaming like banshees...I was laughing so hard. It was a great ride, it seemed faster this time than in the past...maybe we actually hit 30mph:D

After that, I walked over to Philharmagic and grabbed a Fastpass...wait for FP entry was about 1 hour away.

So, I grtabbed lunch at Cosmic Rays...I had never eaten there before. Good food (Meteor Meal).

I still had about 40 minutes until FP time, so I went to the Haunted Mansion. I was quite disappointed at the loading here. The attraction had no line outside, and inside, the CM just kept pushing ppl into the stretching room, which started stretching while ppl were still being shoved in. She was loading the ride so fast that when the door opened to the loading area, nobody could move...the loading area was completly full. I know most ppl are not like me, but I would have rather waited 5 minutes outside, or in the entryway, than in the loading area being pushed and shoved.

Next I hit BTM, great ride, only a 15 minute posted wait, which was really about 10 minutes.

My FP time was now approaching, so I slowely made my way back to Philharmagic, stopping in a few shops along the way.

I love Philharmagic. Of all of the 3-D movies in the parks, I thought the 3-D effects were the best. I did think for some reason that it was going to involve Mickey more, but besides that misunderstanding, the show was fantastic.

Afterwards, I went back to Liberty Square, and the afternoon parade was going on, so the place was packed. I ducked in to the HoP. The theater was just opening, and I got 1 of about 10 remaining seats. The show is nice, typical Disney edu-tainment. I would think this show would be great at Epcot, as a second show in the USA pavilion. Also, I they moved it, maybe they could replace it with Mr Toad Wild ride, and make a lot of ppl happy.

Next, I grabbed a FP for Splash MT, as the line was about 45 minute long, and I went off to Adventureland.

Pirates...was great, I got my own boat (I felt so special) as nobody else was using the "left" line. Next, I hit the Tiki Room.

Splash MT was great, when I went back for FP entry. The stand-by was down to 15 minutes, but it looked longer. The new paint job is nice.

After that, I went back to Tomorrow land (the long way, through MTTF) and hit Space MT again, so I could dry off.

Buzz Lightyear was down to a 15 minute wait. What a fun ride. tech wise it does not compare to MIB, but why bother comparing, they are both fun and great...I only scored about 92,000.

After that, it was about 7, so I just messed around, looked through the shops, and got a fresh cookie at Sleepy Hollow in Liberty Square, and hit Philharmagic one more time (no wait).

At about 8:20, I figured I should find a seat for the fireworks, but I couldn't, so I went back to Buzz...5 minute wait, and this time I scored 793,300. To be honest, the ride stopped for about 3 minutes, and I held the gun on the volcano target the whole
time:king:

Afterwards, Wishes was only about 10 minutes away. I was able to get a seat in the hub area, sitting in the street, as a vendor lady had just moved her cart out. Also, the ppl in front of me were lying down, so I had a great view.

I must say, this new show is awesome!!! The new lighting effect for the castle are great, and the usage of the roman candles is breathtaking. The show got many oohs and aahs, and lots of applause at the end of each set.

What a great day:D

Cheater? You? Nooooooooooooooooooo. Oh, I'm so jealous you lucky product of an illegitimate relationship. I did the same thing at DL on my trip. I made a concerted effort to ride and see all those attractions I considered "lame" and came to realize they weren't so bad afterall.

Definitely got the impression you had a wonderful time!! Excellent trip report buddy.

Thanks man!

It is funny how one's opinion of things changes as they get older. Don't get me wrong, I love thrill rides, but there is so much more out there.
