Do you have any favorite "secrets" about how the Imagineers have achieved optical illusions etc.

One of my favorites is from Peter Pan: they use a slow moving chain with fluorescent dots painted on them to make the headlights on the moving cars as you fly over. The dots light up under black light.

The Pepper's Ghost effects in the Haunted Mansion are my most favorite.

The projections onto matte paintings used throughout EPCOT (Spaceship Earth, Mexico, Norway, etc.) to increase depth and movement are another favorite.

You might want to check out the "How Do They Do That" forum here on WDWMagic. Many threads all about the behind-the-scenes secrets.

Yeah, but you know, I kind of wish I'd never learned about that effect. Curse you, Doombuggies.com! :drevil:
Yes, we all have to strike that balance between our desire to know everything we can about the parks and our desire for "magic". My wife doesn't see how they do the disappearing butterfly on Imagination and I refuse to tell her: she thinks it's the coolest thing ever as it is now!
