SPACE's Top Speed

So, I'm told the centrifuges spin at 16 rpms. And I'm told the pods are about 9 feet wide (2 feet per seat, plus a little extra room) with a 5 foot gap b/t pods. That's 14 feet per pod, so a 140 foot circumference to each centrifuge. Multiply that by 16 rpms to get 2240 feet per minute, or 134,400 feet/hour, corresponding to 25.45 mph. There's your approximate top speed for SPACE--25 mph:) Just some random, useless info that I found interesting haha.

Good to hear it isnt like 90 MPH lol :D

I wouldnt mind going 90..Trust me....It really pushes you back...In the ride, your going 6000 miles per hour (thats what the pre-show says the X-2 is capable of)

You go faster than 6000 mph...that's during blast off. Even today, when ships go around the moon (let along heading into Mars), they reach speeds of about 18,000 mph, so I'd think by 2037...I'd hope they'd be up to 40,000 mph or so...they'd have to be to get to Mars in 3 months:) It takes about 7 mos. with today's technology.

All I know its fast enough, and at the right angle I can feel the skin on my face pull back, and the push on my chest.:hammer:

haha...as intense as this ride is, imagine if it were truly as intense as a real space flight. To set it into perspective, SPACE sustains 2.5Gs...a real lift-off reaches roughly 5 Gs...THAT would be painful (it would probably make all of us pass out, but that's neither here nor there)

Ya but we dont have pressurized suits either if we did we could take the 5 g's with out passing out I would imagine. No suit on ya we would blackout from the blood lose being pushed away from the head thats when you would :snore: :snore: :snore:

Pretty close DR. The circumference is somwhere around 185' though and I think the top speed is closer to 32mph.

He He not on conventinoal rocket fuel......DARN WHERE IS MY WARP DRIVE :)

I wish Disney would release an offical FAQ on this ride. Hopefully we will see it on the Travle Channel sometime!

Shuttle Gs

Actually, the Space Shuttle only generates 3 gees on liftoff. That however is enough to do a little face stretching.

Just wondering, do they suggest individuals wearing large/heavy ear rings remove them? It's fairly funny to see people with heavy ones complain about their ear lobes being pulled from the apparent increase in weight.

It was the original Gravitron!

I heard several CMs say M:S goes about 35 mph. At least some of them are consistent.
