Space Theme Park Expands 'Dine With an Astronaut' Program
CAPE CANAVERAL (Orlando Business Journal) -- Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex is extending its "Dine With an Astronaut" interactive lunchtime program to every day of the week. Previously, the space-themed attraction only offered the program on weekdays. Dine With an Astronaut allows visitors to meet an astronaut while eating a lunch freshly prepared by the space-themed attraction's executive chef. The complex limits seating to allow time for guests to ask the featured astronaut questions and have photos taken. Rick Abramson, president and chief operating officer of Delaware North Parks Services of Spaceport Inc., which operates the complex for NASA, explains the company added the program after visitors to its live Astronaut Encounter program requested additional interaction with astronauts. The program includes a video that shows what everyday life on the Space Shuttle is like. The featured astronaut then makes a personalized presenta-tion about his or her space flight experience. Guests also receive a souvenir autographed by the astronaut.
