We just noticed that there is a shuttle launch scheduled in february during our vacation to WDW. Does anyone know if it's difficult to get tickets for the launch? If so, are there any other good places to watch from? I'd love a chance to see the shuttle before it is retired.

Its not too difficult but you should try and get them now... and a word of advice, the shuttle almost never launches on its scheduled day. If you want to see it, your best bet is along A1A in Titusville or at Jetty Park at Port Canaveral. I have also had a good view from the Canaveral Causeway.

The high chance of launches being delayed (either from technical or weather reasons) prevented me from travelling down to the Cape to see launches - I could not face the thought of losing a day at the parks sitting in traffic and not even see a launch.

So, I watched two from World Showcase - standing in Japan :D

My wife and I drove to a shuttle launch years ago and ended up parking on the side of this highway like "everyone" else was doing. Walked about 10 min to an entrance gate and was stopped there. Still caught a great shot of the pad and the entire "loud" launch. It was trully something I won't forget! Oh ya, got a tkt for parking on the highway ($20). Paid it and it was worth it! Hey we Bostonians pay $30 just to park and see a Red Sox game! Hope this helps.
