Space Mountain

Why doesnt Space Mountain have an On-Ride photo center like RnRC and Splash Mountain has? I know there is a little photo thing in the Tommorowland Arcade, but its not the same as an on-ride photo.

Probably because the ride was built way before these devices were even thought of.

They'd have to shut down the ride, wire it up, make sure it's going

I'm not sure about you, but I never get the photos anyway.

That would be cool. I would buy one every few years- might as well, i have one from all the other disney rides that take your pic. They could easily put one in when its down for a refurbishment- i only wonder if there is room for a picture spot on a good enough part of the ride.

People, usually families, like to buy the pictures, and I'm sure many would love to have one inside Space Mountain since it's a classic attraction.
However, I'm not sure that if closing the attraction is a good idea. Probably they'd lose people by doing it, and proportionally maybe it's not a roundtrip ticket, meaning they can lose more than they will earn with the photos afterwards.

Don't they need some sort of flash for the cameras to work?? This would totally ruin the effect!

Not really you could disguise the falshes as a meteor shower or some other type of lspace lighting effect. And as for the time to install, Im no expert but were not talking about cutting edge technology just a digital camera and remote sensor, it would take longer to lay the cables and st up the digital production centre. But still no need to take the ride off line. IMHO of course, but I could be talking Pooh and I dont mean Winney:)

Good Idea, it would be neat if you mixed it in with a meteor shower, and it wouldnt take long to install the cameras.

They cannot install the picture feature on Space Mountain due to the camera flash. Space Mountain consists of a very sensitive safety system which detects any unusual light or foreign object movement. This alerts the ride operator if any guests have fallen out of the ride vehicle or if any idiots have thrown objects out of the vehicle. When this system is activated, the ride automatically shuts down and has to be reset. A lot of times, this system is accidentally triggered when a rider's hat blows off.

Well, then why is there one in the Space Mountain at Disneyland?

Different ride system, probably more advanced. Remember the SM in DL opened after the one in WDW. They were able to see their mistakes and correct them.

I personally think a camera in SM would ruin the effect, even if you incorporated it somehow (shower, stars, etc.) Just my opinion... plus shutting the ride down to simple install a camera doesn't make much sense.

On RNR I think that there is only one car on track at any one time which means that there isn't anyone else affected by the flash, on SM there are several cars running at the same time and so the continual tripping of the cameras flashes would spoil the rides for everyone else.

I would hate to see a pic of myself on Space Mountain. I am always afraid I am going to get hit in the head with a bar or something. This leads me to duck the whole time and probably make an extremely unattractive face.

Then again, I guess that would be funny.

You could add the flash when you go through that red and white flashing tunnel. Your might not even need a flash becuase there is plenty of bright lights.
