3 years (August, 2000) I went to Disney World to ride my Favorite ride, Space Mountain. As i was riding the TTA through Space mountain I noticed that the interior was lit up. As the TTA came into the main part of the ride building, I saw the track surrounded by lights. This wasthe first time I seen the insde of space mountain lit up in all my visits to Disney World. My next visit will be on July 22nd, 2003  :sohappy:

I've seen pictures of Space Mountain with the lights on on these boards - perhaps someone with a better memory can point you in the right direction - or try doing a search on Space Mountain

Are the chances better of hitting your hands if you put them up when the lights are on (inside joke...kinda).

I've been on Space Mountain and Rockin' Rollercoaster with the lights on. They are both very scary, especially RNR! I can't believe how compacted that thing is!

I love RnR with the lights on ......... It makes it much more exciting b/c you can tell where in the building you are....and at some points how close you come to the wall

I saw SM with the lights on last summer on an E-ride night (rode TTA at about 10:15pm, passed right through it). I thought it looked extremely cool, but I wouldn't want to ride it that way. It's not meant to be ridden that way - the darkness and the stars on the ceiling are aspects of the ride integral to the SM experience (as are the queue and all of the other theming elements).

And that's WAY too much info for me!! I prefer RnRC in the dark, thank you!

Miss Becky -

Would anyone with sense want to ride a coaster traveling at 120 mph? :veryconfu

Wouldn't do it in my car, wouldn't do in on my ex b/f's Harley ( I miss that bike!)...won't even consider in on a coaster!

I'm all for going fast, but 120mph seems like a little overkill. I would much rather have twists, turns and inversions. Could you imagine Space Mountain going just twice as fast at 55mph. They would be carrying people out in bags.
