So I got a report from my sister-in-law who is currently at MK. She said she went to ride Space Mountain and was told they aren't opening it until all the fastpasses were distributed...anyone know what is going on or ever heard of this happening? (My guess is that there might be a maintenance issue and she just misunderstood but I was instructed by my wife to ask all the good folks here to see if anyone had any info or thoughts.) Thanks!

Evidently she got a fastpass...starting to think maybe she tried to go through the fastpass entrance and maybe that is what is not open yet (she does know about the one hour window of use though...but she can be a bit airheaded sometimes, haha! Hope she never checks this forum or I am in trouble!). Will update if I head anything new.

UPDATE: just got word she checked with a second cast member who told her the first one she talked to just made that up because they probably didn't want to have to tell her the ride was down. I thought it sounded fishy!

I have never heard of that, but I will say that in my experience that there are more days where we went to MK and Space Mountain was closed when the park opened, than days where we could ride it first thing.

I don't know if this is just coincidence, a crowd dispersal tactic, issues getting the ride up and running on time, or something else.

Though if OP is true, I guess once FP+ gets implemented it should be open bright and early.

We need time for things to happen.
This happens all the time!!

By "this" I mean, DRM (Disney Related Misunderstanding)

Or in this case the more specific: DRMWEF.
(Disney Related Misunderstandings With Extended Family.)
They mean well and sometimes I've been surprised by something I had no idea was a rule or an actual real "thing" (that's why it's smart to not argue too vehemently no matter what you think you know) but generally it's a case of DRMWEF.

I just had something very similar happen to me with my SIL while she was over for dinner last night. She was insisting some WDW fact from her last trip. My wife even jumped on her side. I played it smart and shut my mouth, a couple of minutes later they added their facts and came up short. I got a kiss from my wife for not arguing. Alls well that ends well.

Wise, very wise!

Guests in Disney ask so many questions and hear what they want to hear. That happens in most customer service related circumstances.

Then of course there are times where customer service hears what it wants to hear from guests who complain....and hope they will just go away.
