With AP previews scheduled for August 1-3, I am wondering how Disney has run these previews in the past--are they before or after hours, or do they close the ride to normal guests during certain (or all) hours on these days? Basically, will any guests be able to ride (no AP guests) on these days, or will I have to wait till August 4th?

It will all depend on if there is a soft opening underway at that point. In the past, the AP events have been either before or after hours when the park is closed to regular guests. Based on the number of people who turn out for these events, I can’t imagine they would be able to do it during normal park hours and not have trouble with regular guests.

I haven’t gotten anything inviting me yet so I really can’t say much about this one but I think the last one which was at AK (I don’t really count the Osborne Lights) was APs only – no guests.

If someone else hasn’t already filled in the details by the time I get my info, I’ll come back and post it for you.

The last one I was at was for AK also. That one was after hours. They had you go to an area to get a wrist band, and of course to see your Annual Pass

It was a mad house in AK since everyone was in one area of the park you couldnt really go to far out of Dinoland etc. Still I had a blast.

Though a heads up to all who go to a AP event "IF" Disney hands out coupons for a free coke and popcorn DONT COMPLAIN when the lines are longer than ever. (example I counted one coke cart with over 200 people in line for a free coke) Its a COKE!!! Not some limited edition collectible

Of course I will be there for the preview. Actually might try to make all 3 days if I can.

Have to check the Lab schedule here, and make sure there is atleast one geek working :)

Yeah, I would think it would make the most sense to have it after hours...they don't want people rushing the ride entrance during normal park hours (on a weekend, no less) while Cast Members are trying to determine who can ride and who cannot. Wouldn't it make the most sense, if this is going to be three nights in a row, to just ask APs to RSVP for one of the nights so they can try to keep the lines at least remotely down (roughly speaking, divide into three groups)? I would think they will be soft opening this attraction on weekends by mid-July--it wouldn't be wise to open up for weekend crowds quite yet, but they will need to start working with those crowds in the weeks before August 15th.
