souveniers, pics, +other tips

I'm going to MK and Epcot in the summer and haven't been there for some time. Suggestions for unique photo ops would be nice as well as the best places to shop or any unique souviers I might pick up. Any other various tips are equally welcome. Thanks for all the help.

My wife got a great pic of JIYI as the fountains were going off and the monorail was rolling by. And there's the requisite pic of Spaceship Earth from the bridge between Future World and World Showcase, fountains included. :)

As a great amateur photographer (that's what everyone tells me). In MK, take "depth" pictures. This park is set up perfect for it. What I mean by "depth" pictures is pictures that show different depths.

An example is below:

Just always include the flowers and you'll get perfect pics. Get down into the flowers and snap away!

Don't overlook the picture spots in the park! Though not terribly original, you are bound to come out with a great shot! I've learned that Disneyworld likes to "eat film"! I can shoot six rolls and come out with about 10 good pictures! It's heartbreaking sometimes. then again, I need a new camera. :P

Another tip - If you don't want to buy something, most stores (except for art galleries) allow you to take pictures! Take some of your friends and family in funny hats, or hugging a stuffed animal, etc.

An old photographer's tip is, take 2 of everything becuase you never know how one will turn out (unless you have a digital camera).

Also, don't hesitate to let the kodak folks in the park take some good pictures. I've found that in EPCOT, they are very creative! Ask them to be creative and they'll unleash a flood of poses!

One way to go about it, is to have an underlying theme to your pictures. One quirky family in the Disney Magizine took pictures of thier 3 boys in front of the restroom signs in different parks! Why not try something silly? We have some funny ones from previous trips of park trash cans, and of me drinking from a bottle of water in front of every ride, or me burried in a map in front of the bathroom.

Whatever you do, have fun with it! Half the fun is shooting the pictures (even if they DON'T turn out). My DH wishes he would have brought a waterproof camera to Typhoon Lagoon when we went though! We all had a blast, and I'd recently lost 65lbs for the trip and felt killer in my new swim suit. I have 40 more to lose for this trip in Decemeber! :)

this is why you must go digital.

I have a nice digital camera with a 25MB backup card and a primary 200MB card. I can take over 1500 pics on low resolutions. I can literally just snap until Im content. I can also get quick video clips.

Well - I've got a camera phone! Does that count? No? Oh well.

We spend the money we would spend on a digital camera on going to WDW. For us, money is tight and it's one or the other! We'd rather live with memories and some lousy pictures than not go for a year! I need my sanity break! :)

When I worked at WDW, my roommates and I would venture into the park on photo expeditions! :) We would go around and take pictures with other CM's we didn't know, even guests on the street...always good fun.

Sometimes we would take pictures of one of the roomates with doing goofy things using forced perspective.

But my favorite pics, we had an action figure of alan from Jurassic Park...and we would take pictures of Alan around the park...my favorites were Alan at Pleasure Island, then Alan after Pleasure Island! I think someone else here has done something similar...is it DiskneePhreek maybe?

In fact, my cousin and I are introducing his niece to the art of action figrue photography this july...we bought Pepe the King Prawn (the muppets) and are doing a project called "Pepe Around the World"....Should be fun, will add some pics when I return in August!

Oh...and my cousin would be angry if I forgot to add "Babes around the World"....we went "drinking around the world" and decided it would be fun to take pictures with some of the beautiful ladies at the World Showcase...the girls all seemed to get a kick out of two drunk guys getting thier picture taken with them!

We have a similar tradition, only our "action figure" is a stuffed bull dog with a bone in his mouth that says "I wuff you". It's great really! :) His name is "Little Jay" and this year will be his first trip to Disneyworld! We've decided to carry him around for some of our trip and add to his journal ("The Many Adventures of Little Jay"). We have pictures of him in the Disneyland hotel, and will have some of him in Disneyland since we're going next week, and we'v got pictures of him "ruffing it" in Borrego Springs where we went desert camping! It's a great thing to do and SO much fun!
(Yes, I know we're "geeks" and people think we're nuts!)
Maybe we can get a picture taken with his rival - PLUTO!

Souvenirs! My specialty!

At the Magic Kingdom, the Emporium and the store in Mickey's Toontown Fair are excellent. Any of the shops on Main Street have great unique items. I'm the type who buys everything in sight...but if I could suggest one thing, it would be a watch.

At EPCOT, the department store in Japan has great stuff, along with Mouse Gears and the Misson: SPACE Cargo Bay shop in Future World.

If you plan on going to the Waterparks or on any of the water rides, Splash Mountain, Kali River, etc buy a disposable cheap underwater camera and you will get some great, funny, wet shots. My Sister and I did this on our last trip in September and came home with some very great water pics.
