Southwest Wheelchair assist...

I called SW and had wheelchair assistance lined up for my 91 year old Dad and Aunt (non WDW trip - visiting family in the area).

We didn't get early bird check in for the extra $, but a friend of my cousin said that if they bring their handicap placards from the cars they could be boarded first (and U.S. Since we are their escorts)? Anyone know? I wanted to get the $12 extra early birding but my cousin doesn't think it's necessary if we have the placards.

Either way I'm doing the 24hr check in to pick seats right at the moment I can. Just confused about early boarding with wheelchair assist.

My husband needed to do the wheelchair/early medical board a few years back. He had thrown out his back so bad he could barely walk and it would have taken him an hour to get down the plane aisle if he had to walk more than a few rows back. I remember checking in at the desk and *I think* we boarded right after the business select and before the A's. I agree that you won't need early bird check-in.
