Southwest flight price changes

Can anyone tell me if I book with Southwest airlines and then later the fare drops can I call them and have the fare adjusted? In all the times I have flown in my life I have never tried to do this before but someone recently told me that you could do this. However, I don't exactly trust thier judgements.

Actually you can just do it online. You cancel the reservation you have, then rebook with those credits (using your confirmation number). Your account will then be credited with the difference in the amounts, and that credit will expire one year from your original booking.

Yes - I've done it several times. You can't get a refund, but you can get credits.

No problem - good luck. If you're not confident to do it online, you can call them to change it, but you might not get the same price deal as you get online.

Great. Thanks. I may end up getting too confused and calling them anyway. I've flown all my life but have never bothered to change flight details before. :shrug:

I've always found them to be very helpful at Southwest. You can even ask them to walk you through the online process, and they will if they can't get you the price themselves.

I've done it several times as well. On right side of the Southwest homepage under "Quick Links" there is an option to "Change Flight". You then enter your confirmation number and follow the prompts through to re-book at the new fare. It's pretty straightforward, but you can only change a flight online if you booked it online. If you booked over the phone you need to call. I actually re-booked my November flight twice already - each member of my family has a $68 credit for a future flight (within a year).

So basically if I rebook the flight to a lower fare I do not get credited back to my credit card I just get future SW fare credits? Forget that. LOL I only pay out of my pocket once every two years for flights. The other 2 or 3 times a year that I fly it is on my company's dime. LOL
