Southwest Airlines Question...

Hey all,

Do you know how far out you can by tickets? For a awhile now they have had June 9, 2006 as the farthest date... and our vacation is June 9-18. Does anyone have any information of when they might finally post a later date and we can buy our tickets? This might sound like a weird question, but thanks for all your help! :king:

They should be changing soon. We're waiting to book a youth group to DC for the first week of July, and when I called them Monday, she said to keep checking during the next 2 weeks. There is no definite schedule that they go by, but it's been a while since they changed - just keep checking daily. If you've signed up for the "Ding" program, they'll notify you through that too.

Hope this helps!

You can book tickets from every airline as far as 11 months ahead, with any deparure date you want... Standard IATA rules...

Or isn't that what you meant...

Not over the internet at least.
I would say 6 months is closer to it.

Southwest is the worst with dates. They never tell anyone when they are coming out with new dates. Even if you call and ask they dont know. And southwest also isnt on any cheap sites like cheaptickets and expedia so there is no way to get past the dates. If you are really nervous about making sure you get the best low fare tickets for southwest and feel you wont find them in time to get the best fare, contact a travel agent.

My experience with Southwest is that they usually post flights about 6 months in advance. I've really grown to like them, too.

Next trip we plan to try Allegient Air, which is dirt cheap and flies from a closer airport. Does anyone have experience with them?

I signed up for the Ding. the prices seem too good to be true! 34-39$ one way? So a round trip ticket would only be like $80. plus taxes? :sohappy:

I have...you get what you pay for. They are certainly no JetBlue (which has risen its prices...jerks).

I fly both Southwest and Airtran both. I love them both! Yes, they are no Song, but still wonderful. I would choose them over Delta too, last time we flew Delta we paid more and they broke our luggage! The only problem with Southwest is that you don't get to pick your seats at booking. They board by groups (a,b,c) The key is to check-in online prior to your flight, preferably 24 hours ahead of time. You can check baggage at the airport still, and you get Group A boarding first. :) Airtran is also nice, they just bought new planes. Never had a bad airtran flight, except when we were 20 minutes out the captian put on the seatbelt sign, right as I was going to the restroom....I ran off the plane.

Have Fun!
