Southwest aircraft

Can someone please tell me what aircraft Airtran and Southwest use for traveling between the Kentucky/Indiana/Ohio region to Orlando and back? I just booked a trip through them and have never used Airtran or Southwest before. Btw, I know Southwest bought Airtran and that is why they split the trip (Airtran for the first leg and SW for the last leg of the trips). I am trying to get an idea of the seat layout.

Also, this has been the cheapest we will ever have flown. This cost $816 for 3 people with no baggage fees. The cheapest we have ever flown before was $750 plus $480 in baggage fees ($1230).

I'd suggest checking SeatGuru.com for info on the type of planes on your particular flight.

I know that Southwest uses all 737's (in two or three different configurations), but I don't know what the inclusion of AirTran into the mix has done.

We have two checked bags for the four of us each way. Although this trip would have been $360 since our daughter is not able to go this trip.

Like the OP said Mostly Boeing 737's. Southwest was basically 100% 737's and I am not sure exactly what the Airtran deal has done to the mix but since they are owned by Southwest I would assume they are the preferred 737's.

Wow, that is quite expensive. I think back about 5 years ago when we were paying under $400 round trip direct flight from Albany, NY to Orlando via Southwest for my family of 3. Today that same trip is about $900. Twice we got $49.00 direct flight per person each way from Albany to Orlando in 2005 and 2006. My wife and I did a couple of long weekends because it was so cheap to fly.

This..

Southwest has one type of plane.. part of their business model. Airtran uses 717s and 737s. Seatguru or seatexpert would be the recommendations for trying to pin down exactly what you have.. or simply compare the seat chart of your flight vs the known plane configurations. More than likely you're on a 737 which is as vanilla as they come. 3+3 all the way back.

Check airtrans website for the airport your leaving from and pretend your booking a flight from there and it'll show u what flights and aircraft they use. It's either 737 or 717. But AirTran is getting rid of their 717's and giving them to delta, eventually they'll just have 737's as well just like southwest. Just check AirTran website
