Southern Californian (Maybe all of California, too?) Local Eats

The AP thread has gotten COMPLETELY off topic, and I’ve contributed to that lol. Let’s talk about crappy, overrated, tasty, underrated food here.

@Mac Tonight To answer your question, I love Roscoe’s, but it’s best eaten at the restaurant. Take-out isn’t as good.
Agreed! There is such a sad disparity between food eaten in a restaurant vs take out sometimes. Part of it too though probably comes from the atmosphere and the people you're eating with.

Has anyone tried Ike's Love and Sandwiches? (formerly Ike's Place).

There are a bunch of locations throughout so-cal and they have something insane like 800 different sandwich varieties.

Ike's is my absolute favorite sandwich shop. Used to go to the one in Irvine but now that I work from home, we go to Chino Hills. The Tony Soprano is amazing, my wife likes "The Name of the Girl I'm Dating." Dutch Crunch Bread is a must. I was firmly in the Jersey Mike's camp but would drive the extra miles to get Ike's any time.

As for Roscoe's (I posted in the other thread), Food was fine but I'm not a chicken and waffles guy. No real desire to go back.

Other local eats near Disneyland that we enjoy: Cortina's Italian Deli, Mexi Casa and Varsity Burger (I used to work on corner of Harbor and Broadway and in Anaheim for 14 years so I've tried many places in the city).

Never heard of Ike’s, but I do love a good sandwich! Adding it to my list.

I really want to branch out on my Ike's ordering.

I've tried the:
-Lincecum
-Hella Fat
-Menage a Trois
-We're Just Friends
-Superman

and... yes... I have had the Kryptonite. I was a changed man.

The Menage was the first one I had. I tried it again a few weeks ago but I just keep going back to the Tony Soprano.

I'll have to try that one on my next trip. Outside of the ones in the Bay Area, I've only gone to the Burbank location. Need to try the Northridge one, as it's closer to home.

I do wish they would expand inland a bit more. Corona has been growing and would be ideal...and ideally close.

Such as? Spill the beans! This is a safe space. 😁

I'll admit that I like their fries, but who doesn't?
