Hey, are there any of you out there that love movie soundtracks like me? I just got LOTR (Return of King) soundtrack and it is GREAT. It has to be amongst my favorite movie soundtracks. I also like Glory, Gettysburg, (anything from John Williams), Harry Potter, Rudy, American President...

Anybody have some good ones they really like? Who is your favorite movie composer? (John Williams, Howard Shore, Randy Edelmen, ...)

I like Titanic too. Very ghostly. I often think that without the music as it is, the movie would not has been as effective.. thus less profitable.

Good music in Braveheart too. "The Last of the Mohicans" is similar and very good too.

My husband has the Braveheart soundtrack...not good for commuting.
The faster the music the faster he finds himself driving.

Hook - John Williams
Gladiator - Hans Zimmer and Lisa Gerrard
Pirates of The Caribbean - Klaus Badelt (which has some of the same musical motifs as Gladiator)
Dinosaur & Atlantis: The Lost Empire - James Newton Howard
James Newton Howard and Danny Elfman are probably my two favorite movie score composers.

If you guys like movie soundtracks, get the soundtrack to Requiem for a Dream. Its a brilliant movie with soundtrack that fits with it so well. Its mellow and intense at the same time.
Requiem for a Dream - Clint Mansell (Featuring Kronos Quartet)
Get it! I swear you will not regret it.

haha big ten fo' sho'!

Requiem for a Dream is the name of the movie. I think it was somewhat of a cult classic. It follows these three friends and one guy's mom living on Coney Island from summer to winter. It's about their drug addictions. Its an amazing movie but you have to be prepared to watch something intense and disturbing. So thats a warning to everyone. It will defintely make you stay away from drugs for the rest of your life.

...so will my parole officer! (j/k) :lookaroun

Never heard of the movie. I will have to download (errr, I mean buy) a music clip to get the idea. If it is that good I may have heard it before.

I have all of the Lord of the Rings cd's. Great music. Also a big fan of the Glory soundtrack and Gettysburg. Of course, the Big Chill has a pretty good list of tunes as does The Wedding Singer.

My problem is that I am also a fan of Broadway soundtracks:lookaroun . Les Miserables is some pretty powerful stuff...and I am a MAN!!

Yeah we do. Two of them in fact. One for the repository theater (or something like that) and one for the TPAC season series. I will probably get a season pass one the symphoy's new hall is complete in Nashville. :sohappy:

I have never seen Les Mis but want to. We saw Cats once and liked it a lot. I want to see the new broadway based on the songs of Billy Joel.

Ahem, now if you will excuse me... I need to go to the gym and lift some... weights. Yeah. And then I need to.... go change my oil... yeah, that's the ticket.

We were supposed to have the Billy Joel musical here, but it was canceled and replaced by Oklahoma! Oklahoma! Oklahoma! (one of my favorite bits to Dirty Rotten Scoundrels).

Oh well. As for the softer side...thanks, I think. Are you commenting on my weight???

Since I don't know what you look like I was referring to your seemingly uncomfortable reaction to enjoying musicals.

But it never hurts to hit the gym.
