sorcerer's of the magic kingdom

Last year, actually 2012( where did the time go?), we had one solitary day at Magic Kingdom. Being the amazing mom that I am , I introduced my 8 year old to sorcerer's of the magic kingdom. He loved it.

We leave for a week long trip in 20 days. I always pack the kids bags of things they have never seen for the car ride down. Some of the things keep them occupied while we drive (toy cars, puzzle books, coloring books), some things keep the hunger whining at bay (fruit snacks, drinks, cookies) and some things they just marvel at and get excited about the trip from. With that in mind I thought I had a lightbulb moment in putting some sorcerer's of the magic kingdom cards in their bags. They can marvel at them on the way down and use them when we are there.

I figured ebay is the best place to find them. Well, sure enough there are a ton on ebay but people are ridiculous about the cost. I can pay a dollar a piece (what? there are five in each pack that you get for free people... a dollar?) or I can get a lot of ten and pay about 30 cents a card and then pay 3 bucks for shipping. Since when is it three bucks to send an envelope with some cards in it? Am I missing something?

Has anyone found some place with a great deal on these cards?:banghead:

Not really. Your best bet will be to keep watching for lot sales on eBay. I see one that's ending in 3 hours from now, 10 sealed packs with free shipping currently at $16.50. So $1.65 per pack, 33 cents per card. Or a few BIN auctions with free shipping for about 50 centers per card. The singles usually go for more as people who want/need a single card to complete their collection, and you can't always find traders in park.

Even though the packs are free, you can only get one pack a day. So to get a bulk auction of like 50 cards, the lister either needed to have purchased some of the $15 packs in park, or visited the park numerous times. You can't just stop in and get your pack anymore, you need to actually open the proper portal and play it at least once before getting your cards.

When you say open the proper portal and plat it at least once before getting your cards do you mean play an entire mission or just one step?

You can purchase packs at the Emporium and other MK stores. Have you tried calling merchandising and seeing if you order them and have them shipped to you.
I didn't realize they sell them at the emporium now. Seems silly that I didn't think of them turning into something commercial since they are a business. I will have to check on that. Any idea what they cost?

You need to go to the portal that you were assigned to, and open it. IE you were assigned to the one at Sir Mickey's, you need to go to Sir Mickey's, scan your key card, play that step, and get told what portal is next. At that point, you can then go get your cards for the day. There were people who were just walking in the park, getting their cards to sell on eBay, and then never playing.

$14.95 for the pack of 7. 6 common cards, 1 rare card, and a board/tokens to play at home. Way more expensive than most of the lots on eBay, due just to the rare cards. You can't get the rares through the free decks, only through the $14.95 purchases or trading. It may be worth buying one while there so you have the home version, but the $14.95 + $9.95 shipping the merchandise line would charge you isn't worth it just to get some cards for the kids.

why don't people just print them out?

Some people do. There are sites with high quality scans. I want to say some people even just have the scans loaded on their phone/tablet and play that way.

I have seen the "board game" online. I told my hubby we should bring one home with us and he gave me crazy stupid eyes... you think that means no?

I have an unused dupe board game that I can mail to you as well as the kids' duped cards for free...(I think we've got around 7-8 of em??). We were going to give them to someone on our last trip to add a little "pixie dust" but forgot to bring them along. ::gah:: So here's our opp?? :) Let me know, am fine either way and won't be offended if you don't want / don't want to give address to total stranger. (They would be coming from Miami so you can figure that into mail time)

Our first trip playing was 2012, then we went back in 2013. They said too much time passed and that 2012 game was closed/lost? So....when we go back in June and the kids want to play will all four of us still be able to get the cards every day we go into the MK and play? I am guessing we will take some of the cards into MK on day one and check in at the Firehouse and they will explain the new rules. THanks

Cool, no prob...and a work-type address ok too if that makes life easier. Below is what I've got...Robin Hood and Maurice are rare, the balance are common and uncommon. Basically, in Oct my 10yo put his entire packet in the cargo pocket of his shorts and proceeded to throw directly into the washing machine. Was VERY, VERY disappointed so we surprised him with board games/couple of packs back home at Christmas... Then all four of us got cards on trip last month (yeah the one where we forgot the board). Needless to say there will be dupes...like Aurora as you see!
