I've done Disney 5 times in the last 2yrs. During the process we've done a regular trip, getting engaged there, wedding planning visit, getting married and a bounce back offer. Got me thinking about joining the dvc. My parents own a timeshare that they normally use for Disney once every 2-3yrs, so they don't really get their $$$ worth. They have it through rci, and maintenance fees are more and points don't roll over as easy. My wife and I have discussed becoming dvc members, we don't even have kids yet, so we'll go for sure to disney once we go down that path. We have enough money to purchase now with financing it, but we are both getting big promotions in the next year or 2, so we figured we'd wait till then. My brother has a 4 month old and sister a 6 month old. So my parents are anticipating using the timeshare a lot more with grand kids. They've already planned a week after thanksgiving of 2016 trip down there for the whole family. So back to dvc. After talking with my mom just yesterday and her knowing about my promotion coming up she asked what we'll do with the extra money, and I told her I'll joking the dvc. After sitting down with her explaining it all to her for 2hrs, she now wants to sell there rci timeshare and use that money toward getting a dvc membership on resale, but putting it my name being only I'm only 32. Only request was that it'd have to have atleast 2 bedrooms. I've narrowed it down to that I want a villa at Beach Club with 2 bedrooms on resale market. Looks like that will run me around 20-25k at max. My parents timeshare we're not sure how much they can get for, but regardkess we'd just pay it off at purchase without financing and just have maintenance fees. Pretty excited about this, hopefully everything goes great.
