Hi, new here and to DVC soon.
I was wondering if anyone could help. I am about to purchase a resale. We will probably be vacationing in the fall more than other times of the year. There are two resales I am considering, one is a Sept use year and the other is March. I am not sure which one would be better for my family

I would think March, that way you can use all of your points in the fall as planned. If you plan on going at different times of the year other than fall it would not matter much.

I have always felt that a use year towards the beginning of the year has been a tad helpful. I have October. But it still works.

Well I just got off the phone with DVC. I am now the proud owner of 300 points at SSR with an October use year.:sohappy:

Congrats. We are members since 1999 at Hilton Head. We have June use year but I sincerely think it matters not. The tricky part is managing your points and reservation windows. If you figure that part out, all is well. My wife leaves all the technical part to me and I enjoy it.

Learn to use the wait list option if you can't get in the resort of your choice. Since we own at HH, and have vacationed at WDW 7 times since 2000, we haves been waitlisted several times and gotten in resort of choice each time. Try to plan your reservations by the 11 month and 7 month window and call asap after the window opens.

My "guide" is Greg Coots. I actually purchased over the phone, I will be heading down in 11 days to take a tour of SSR. Cant wait.:sohappy:

Good Luck and congratulations!

Make sure you check out all of the DVC resorts before you sign the papers. Each resort has it's own unique personality. I own at SSR but my favorite is BCV. Also, pick the use year that best meets your needs. The 11 month window(for the home resort) and 7 month window (for other resorts) play a major role when booking reservations.
