Sony P100 v. Sony W1

I have been looking at the W1 as a backup to my DSLR and for my wife to use. The thing that tipped me in it's direction is that is supposed to have virtually no shutter lag. Not sure that the same can be said for the P100. In the P100's favor, it looks like it would fit in your pocket better than the W1.

I'm sure you will be happy with either one.

well.. after reviewing my options, I decided on the P100. The P100 and W1 have the same lens and CCD, so ultimately it just came down to which was the more livable camera, and the smaller P100 was it. Now for the shocker.... it was cheaper to get it at Bestbuy.com with in-store pickup than at any other retailer, online and brick/mortar. So I ordered it that way, and ordered an additional 256mb memory stick off ebay.

I think I've spent more than enough money today. I can hardly wait to get out of work tomorrow to run to Best Buy and pick it up.

I thought you reckoned there were others you'd go for ahead of the P100?

Thats what i went for in the end, and although my use of it so far has been very limited, I've been pretty impressed so far.

One of its best features is its start up time, it powers up in a little over a second, which is perfect when you need to get it ready fast to catch that moment.

and shutter lag is almost nil, which is perfect for me.
