Sony joined everyone, not just Nintendo. All 3 console manufacturers never lowered the standard price of their 9th gen consoles and have instead increased them with Microsoft actually being the most egregious and the first to act. Expect the Switch 2 to follow sometime next year so Nintendo could get in first holiday sales and bolster the install base before the price hike.

The age of consoles price drops is over and it sucks.

Thanks! I updated the thread title as I didn't know MS raised prices before.
Yeah, that's very sad for fans, especially younger fans. That's not a good strategy for the industry, considering how many of us started gaming young.

I'd say they are all egregious equally just in different ways. Nintendo should be ashamed raising the switch 1 price. We're talking about a system that's approaching 9yrs old. Using tech that wasn't even close to current at the time of release. All they're really doing is trying to make switch 2 more appealing in my opinion.

Microsoft is out of their minds with their pricing. Especially with the position they're in. The only explanation is they are setting up their exit from consoles. I really like the series S, but that price? Total joke. And the new 2tb version of the x isn't any better.

Now Sony with the Ps5 pro, that's also terrible. $230 more than a standard series x? Not worth it at all. Any benefits are negligible. The fact that they have a system that will cost you almost $900 is ridiculous if you want to play your discs.

I really don't see Nintendo not raising the price of switch 2. It's just a matter of time in my opinion. My guess would be when they actually start releasing games. As of now they have almost nothing. Once they have a stable of 1st party titles, I'd say look out. The only way I see them not doing anything is if sales fall off big. But that didn't hold true for Xbox so who knows. Lol

It’s going to happen sometime next year most likely.
