You should be able to call the WL and tell the customer service rep what you want to do and to keep it a surprise. They may be able to connect you to someone else (maybe a chef at the restaurant there) who can give you some ideas or options as I am sure others have surprised family members for special occasions.

Last year, my parents were staying at Old Key West and it was their anniversary. So I called the main OKW number, and they connected me to someone through the hotel restaurant Olivias. I ended up having champagne and a fruit basket delivered to my parents. It was waiting for them in their room after they got back from a long day at the parks. They also included balloons and a card. It cost around $60. It was a very simple process to set up.
So give them a call, hopefully you can get connected to the right person and set up something great for your mom. This was the number listed on allearsnet.com to WL: 407-824-3200

Good luck, let us know how it goes.

A really good place to take someone out for their b-day @ WDW is Cinderella's Castle. I went there for my b-day a couple of years ago, and it was the best!!! I wasn't even expecting it, but I found out how the people i was with did this. If you make a reservation, be sure to mention who's b-day it is, etc. At the end of dinner our waiter brought out a little cupcake like dessert with a lit candle in it, announced to the room whose b-day it was, and got everybody to sing Happy Birthday! They can even decorate the table with special decorations, such as Mickey Mouse ears confetti. An added plus is if you take them there a little while before the fireworks start (the view is fantastic!) but when i was there it was still Fantasy in the Sky, so I don't know if you can still see them as well. The waiter also signs and gives the birthday person a b-day card! Overall, it can make for a very special event. Hope this helped you.

You can have flowers sent to the room as well. don't forget that each park has "its my birthday" buttons available at guest relations. The surprises will occur all day long while she wears the button !
