Two dozen on the way. A total of 24 new series are now in development to debut on Disney Channel in the next few years, including 12 animated series and a dozen live-action shows, according to Multichannel News. Some of the upcoming animated series include two new Mickey Mouse series for Playhouse Disney, and Katbot & Maggie, a new series set to debut next year.

Smart development. Best known for its popular infant videos, Baby Einstein, a division of The Walt Disney Company, is producing a new preschool series for Playhouse Disney set to premiere in October 2005, as the New York Post reports.

Chu pilot. Speaking of upcoming series, the Beacon Journal talks with Lucy Wang, creator of Ruby Chu's Day, a possible new live-action series for Disney Channel about a 13 year-old Chinese-American girl whose family runs an ostrich farm in Texas.

I'm thinking those 2 Mickey Mouse series for Playhouse Disney may be interesting...

I just wish there was more announced about non-Playhouse Disney stuff.. Playhouse Disney makes me want to throw my TV out the window... (I'm sure its great for kids, though)

24 shows... so their attention will be split between all of them. Quality over quantity, I say. I'm not optimistic, but I won't count anything out before I see it, either.

I still want the Mickey Mouse Club (the one from the 90's) back on Disney Channel! But yay for Playhouse Disney! It was the toddlers and myself in line to have pictures taken with JoJo at Studios! LOL

They need to have a Classic Disney Channel... where they play all the good old stuff from the 80's - early 90's. And at night they could bring back Vault Disney for the older stuff. They should know that people crave this stuff!!

Actually, there is some good stuff on there. Enjoyable pre-school stuff, and no adverts is a bonus.

24 just dosn't sound good. 5 or 10 I could see, cuase right now all disney channel is, is 5 show played 60 times a day, so they do need some new stuff. As for the two Mickey shows, I some how have a feeling that its going to be Baby Mickey, just like their used to be Muppet Babies, and now Baby Loony Toons. That one might be good, if its done well, and not just thrown together cause theres still 23 shows to think of. And I hope that they do put alot of thought into these shows and make them the best that they could be, and not just crap thats thrown together cause their running out of time befor the deadline.

Quick question. The Disney Channel isn't considered to be a "premium channel" like HBO anymore is it? If not, then I am being jipped by Comcast. It is scrambled just like premium channels. Am I getting ripped off?

Yes, you are being ripped off... with Comcast, that comes as no surprise. Back in WA, my family has Comcast. Nothing but trouble and poor service. But that's a whole 'nother rant. I have Adelphia cable here in San Diego, and it's included with regular cable (with channels like USA, ESPN, SciFi, etc).

If that's good news, I'm scared to know what any bad news would be.

I was hoping an announcement for the demise of the 24/7 tween fest.
