Good afternoon,

I've booked a trip to the world this coming January. Since I havent been to the world in a while Im a little hazy on which restaurants are the best and which have gone down hill. I decided to book some old favorites and try some new ones out. Let me know if any of you have had any good or bad experiences at the following restaurants.

*-never been

Dinner

California Grill
* Yachtsman steakhouse
Todd English's Blue Zoo
* Jiko

Lunches

Now this is the really tough part if I remember correctly. On my last trip my best lunch was margaritas and appetizers in the tequila cave and hot dogs at Casey's corner. Everything else was extremely disappointing. The most disappointing were Rose and Crown and The Coral Reef.....Bleh what nightmare. The fish at the coral reef was long john silver's quality. I wish places like kimonos opened for lunch so I could get a sushi snack. Ive heard reviews that its not the best but it has to be better than the supermarket grade sushi at tokyo dining room and the YACKitori house. Actually come to think of it are those my only two options for a lunchtime sushi snack in the world?

Thank you for your time

Jiko is one of our favorites, we end every trip with dinner there, be sure to get to the Animal Kingdom Lodge a little early, walk out back and see all the animals. Food is world class, as is the wine list.

As for lunch, sounds like you are focused on Epcot. We like doing counter service places, casual, easy good food. We enjoy the Boulangerie Patisserie in France, get a baguette and some cheeses and a glass of wine. Also, the Yakatori House just finished a refurb and is now the Katsura Grill with a couple new menu items. Fish and Chips stand in England is always yummy as is the Bratwurst from Germany. We never do table serve for lunch so I can't help you there.

I had dinner at California Grill last year, and it was very good. Very high-end type of dishes, very shmancy haha. And of course very tasty! I think you will enjoy it - also the views are gorgeous, make sure you walk out on the roof/balcony!

As for lunch - I hear ya. There's not much going on in the lunch department. If you happen to be around Downtown Disney, I highly recommend Wolfgang Puck express. I got the chicken there in the fall and - WOW. so good.

In the parks though, for lunch - maybe try Columbia Harbor House for clam chowder, Liberty Tree Tavern has some good soup choices. If you venture away from soups at those places though - id be warned haha, it gets more "theme park food" like. Lotus Blossom Cafe is pretty good too. I've only had the orange chicken there, but I liked it.

I also agree, I enjoy Casey's Corner, so you will be safe going there still...had some last year. yums.

Another option for lunch is to have 2 dole whips. :ROFLOL:

works for me!! :lookaroun

hahah, 2 corner dogs and 2 dole whips for me. I heard they have new specialty hot dogs or something. That might be interesting to check out. My family used to laugh at me because at lunchtime, I would head off to get my "hot dogs" while they went to get a "better" lunch at the plaza cafe...then the next year pecos...then the year after the harbor house...then finally realizing I had it right with my hot dogs. Better late then never.

I just recently ate at Yachtsman. It was good, but not amazing. I would swap out yachtsman for Citricos (my favorite restaraunt on property). I know from personal experience that Cali Grill and Jiko are phenomenal.

The chilli cheese dog at Casey's was pretty good but the chilli could use a little more spice and zip. But I could be just me, I like spicy things.

I agree. Im a chilli head and put hot sauce on just about anything. To this day I have yet to find anything even remotley spicy in the world to eat. I did find spicy drinks however...on my last trip to wdw i was having drinks in the tequila cave and noticed a jalapeno margarita on the menu. I asked if they had any habaneros in the back to make a habanero margarita and to my luck they did. They recognized me that entire trip and always had one on the way when i came in for drinks...it was very nice of them.
