Disney should own up to it and pay the Original artist and still use the art. Imitation is the highest form of flattery - but I’m sure a nice royalty check would be pretty flattering too.

Many people want to blame Lucasfilm/Disney, and they do have some culpability, but 90% of this kind of work is farmed out to outside design groups. If it was a internal design then legal didn't do their job, if it was an outside design group they're never going to work for Disney again.

While it not Disneys fault, it is their responsibility. As soon as they were made aware of it, Disney should have just said someone messed up, and we will make it right with the artist. Not, well, we will look into it. Anyone can see its a complete rip off as soon as you see it.
