Have wanted to post my trip for a while bit never seemed to have the time. Finally I have the chance to sit down and write down my thoughts. First, let me tell you about myself. I love DW and have been going since it opened. I usually go with my daughter or my extended family but I had the chance to go in March for a one day solo MK trip. I went for a conference and decided to go to MK after my last conference day. Now I have never gone by myself and yes I put up with all the "your going to disney by yourself" questions and weird looks. But I thought why not??? No putting up with the teenage "i don't want to's!!"
I stayed at DTD at the Hilton and took advantage of their shuttle to MK. I had purchased after 4 pm tickets which let me into MK (after 4 LOl). The conference ended (and yes i did stay for the whole thing) and i made my way to the bus stop. I excitedly waited for the bus to come and jumped on me myself and I when it came.
I arrived and went to the ticket booth to claim my ticket. I arrived at the gates around 345 and obediently waited until 4 pm to enter the turnstiles. I had arrived!!!. Now this was Saint Patricks day weekend and I thought it wouldn't be too busy. Boy was I wrong!! I have never seen MK so busy. I have been at Christmas, Summer, Fall and April vacation and have never seen crowds like I did. I couldn't believe it, but ha I was by myself so no problem. I had an agenda, I was a woman on a mission to get to my favorite rides and I was on my way!
I made my way to Pirates, no way, the line was out to the walk with a 90 minute standby time. Tried the Dole Whip line, too long. Made my way to HM and decided to hop in line. Waited about 30 minutes and made it in. Now this is my first experience saying 1 when the CM asks you "how many" I felt like I had a big flourescent green 1 stamped on my forehead. I got to my buggy sat down and felt like everyone in line was looking at that middle age woman sitting by herself with that big green flourescent green 1 stamped on her head!!! I enjoyed the ride but missed experiencing my daughter sitting next to me.
Next I headed to Splash Mountain, way to crazy so I grabbed a fast pass and continued my trek. next I headed to tomorrow land, dodging strollers and people, remember I had a one woman mission to accomplish. Space mountain had a 2 hour stand by wait so I headed to carousel of progress. I saw that the door was open so I made a mad dash to try and make it in. Stand clear, middle aged woman with a mission is on her way! Sorry Maam the CM says loudly you have to wait for the next rotation. There's the big green flourescent one on my forehead again. Enjoyed COP, once I made it in! Hit people mover next, texted my daughter with a picture and said "guess where I am?' It's one of our favorite rides to do together.
By this time my FP for SM was up so I made my way back. Once again the big one was on my forehead and I got to have a seat all by myself in the back!! I love this ride, well we got stuck for about 30 minutes. Lights came on, music off the whole works, and here I was sitting all by myself in the back, what fun! We finally got going and once we made it back the CM was handing out free FP to any ride in the park, YAAA!!! Laughed my head off at the picture, here I was all by myself sitting in the back seat with a big grin on my face. All I could think of was seeing a big green 1 on my head!! I was so excited about the FP that I started talking to this random guy with his daughter, he looked at me like I was nuts. I found out he didn't speak english!!
By this time it was getting late and I was starving so I made my way to Caseys. Two reasons I wanted to eat there. 1. Casey is my daaughters name. 2. I love hot dogs but no one else in my family does, so I never get to eat there. I ordered my dinner and actually found a seat at a table. I sat down to eat and stared down the guy across from me, ya I'm eating my hot dog all by myself!!! I was almost done eating when I noticed a very tired, harried looking father loaded down with a tray followed by his wife and stroller. I gave him the I'm all finished take my table look and he acted like I had handed him a million dollars!! My good disney deed for the day.
All hot dogged out I went to Space Mountain to use my free fast pass. I love walking by everyone. Well once again the big green one was flashing on my forehead and I sat in the last car with an empty one in front of me. The ride was fun, felt funny laughing by myself on the ride but I didnt care!! laughed at my picture again and made my way to Main street to watch the end of the parade and wishes.
Even though I was by myself I still got goosebumps watching the fireworks. Once the fireworks were over I made my way to Main street bakery for ice coffe and a cookie, (a ritual) and made my way out. Stopped in the candy store and wished my daughter was with me so I could argue with her about all the candy she was buying!!!
Timed the bus back to the Hilton pretty good and watched all the tired kids falling asleep wishing I could fall asleep too. My solo trip was very interesting to say the least, not sure I would do it again. I missed sharing the experience with my daughter to much.
