Solar Roadways

Not that this would EVER actually happen, but I just messaged Solar Roadways to see if they had ever thought about bringing their product to Epcot's Future World.

Longshot? Of course it is. But imagine the possibilities of Future World not only cutting costs with electricity but pressure sensitive LED panels? I'm sure they could program all sorts of light shows & things into them.

Not to mention... I dunno. Making FUTURE World more FUTURE-like?

Are you speaking of the Indiegogo campaign outfit? Looks like they'll double their necessary funding if things continue on for another 18 days.
I agree completely that this would work wonderfully in Futureworld if not for the area near to the Universe of Energy alone.

That's the exact one I'm referring to! For anyone who is unfamiliar with the campaign/concept, please watch the video below. It's well worth the watch!

@Master Yoda I do see the MNN article writer's point, it may be a bit lofty a concept for a highway, but as you state, in the controlled environment of EPCOT, a viable case can be made.

The point was, that much like of the futuristic technology featured in past and present Epcot, it will never be practical enough to ever see the light of day in the real world. At best, you might see it as driveways in areas where space for more practical solar panels is at a premium.

Just what we need at Disney, another great idea with an upfront expensive cost that once it breaks Disney will just let it go by the way side as the maintenance behind the idea is quite the debacle when one panel breaks (I get this is all theoretical)...plus the cost to transmit the energy is probably more than most of the panels will ever produce...pretty much the only way they will be effective is like Master Yoda suggested, a driveway since I'm sure one gift shop probably uses the same amount of power in one day that our homes do in a least half a month...
