I just saw this picture linked below on Twitter. It was noted that the Cast Member costumes no longer say "Soarin' Over California" but simply "Soarin'". Do you think this could have some foreshadow on the new Soarin' video to come at all?

But the Disneyland website still refers to theirs as Soarin Over California:

My guess a change in overlay will come with the expansion at Epcot and new film.

The "Over California" part will almost certainly be dropped when the new film comes, so the refurb gave them a chance to get things ready.

Other than the monument sign in the walkway and the unchanged signs inside the queue, it appears that all new signage simply says Soarin' without the "Over California", using the Epcot logo. Photos from Mint Crocodile:

When do you expect this to go into service then?

The new film will show up at DCA and Epcot some time after Shanghai Disneyland opens. They will get the new film first (with their own unique ending - all three resorts will have unique endings with flyovers) and then we'll get it. It's a done deal, and one of the reasons why the digital upgrade occurred during this rehab.

So while there's plenty to get down on Disney for, this isn't one of those things. What remains to be seen is if the original film will remain in use at all, or if it will be completely replaced by the Soarin' Over the Horizon film.
