Not a coaster at all - imagine a office chair that gently floats around in the air. No drops, but you are high.

I was worried at first, but really love the ride now. Went with a friend who is terrified of heights and the beauty of it and the pine scent amde it ok for her. She'd be like "Oo.. pretty.." lean over to see more and go.. "Ah! High!" and cling to the seat and then they'd pump in pine scent and she'd be like "Oo.. pine.."

My favorite quote, when one of scenes really got to her fear of heights "I need more pine! I need more pine!"

Afterwards she said she'd totally ride it again and enjoyed it.

It's like being on a really large... and less rocky, ski lift. The height never bothered me because you mostly lean back. More like an Imax theater experience with gently moving seats. If you can go on Peter Pan, I think you can probably handle Soarin... hope that helps!

I don't like coasters either. I loved Soarin'. I was nervous about it at first but then I enjoyed it so much that I would love to be back and ride it again and again.

Yeah, not a coaster at all. Its very gentle. Just sways you a little and the only little jolt is during the fireworks at the end. ... and even that is absolutely nothing. Trust me, this ride is awesome. You gotta try it... very very very cool.

It's a BIG IMAX screen. You sit in a bench type chair that lifts up off of the ground toward the screen.

It is beautiful ... amazing, wonderful and magical.

If this helps you feel more secure, there are seatbelts on the ride (not because it's going to jerk you around, but because they don't want you getting so excited that you lean forward too far and *splat*. In addition, there's also a little loop that comes up between your legs so the seat belt can pass through it. That's for the smaller kids, but I've known height-sensitive adults to use it too for that extra little feeling of security.

a ferris wheel

a ferris wheel. but indoors and with a screen infront of it.a simulator.
it has 2-3 rows where people sit and strap themselves in then you are lifted up to be infront of a big screen and it actually feels as if you are flying.

i would never trust a ferris wheel in a park or whatever but on this one you are secure and safe.

Soarin' is an incredible ride, once you ride it you will most likely be hooked. Its such a nice change of pace from all the thrill rides of today, although it is a thrill ride. The only thing scary about Soarin' is the line!

One of my most favorite moments from Soarin' is from when I was standing in line and we were in the hallway right before you turn into where they spilt the line. The CM came on and was told us that we would be boarding for Soarin' flight 5505 soon. I had to laugh at that.

Nice depiction.
Quite accurate as well.

I swear, with those mesh seats, it IS just like flying over california in an office chair! So maybe there aren't pretty streamers behind you, but hey, since when is promotional art entirely accurate?
