I was just wondering....how many people go on Soarin' every run? Because I was at Epcot on 12/28/05 and the line for Soarin' was outrageous! 3 HOURS! The FastPasses were gone by late morn. and I was wondering how anyone could stand to wait in line that long...and spend 1/4 of their day in line for Soarin'. I would go nuts.:hammer:

I am not sure of this but I believe the number of guests per theater is 87. I might be wrong on this but for some reason that number comes to mind.

I know it's the holidays but I never expected it to be that long... By the way, just out of curiosity, what is the longest wait you have ever seen or been in before?

That is correct and Soarin' has two theaters. I've seen some long wait times, but I've never waited longer than 25 minutes. After all, there are other things to do...

Me either. FP is certainly the way to go and also I've noticed sometimes that the wait time posted for Soarin' can be incredibly inaccurate. My last trip, a 60 minute wait was posted and there was NOT ONE PERSON in the Standby Queue. So we got in the Standby line right after our Fastpass trip.

Wow! We had a very similar experience. The standby queue posted wait time was 60 minutes, but the actual wait time was 25 minutes. On another occasion we saw that the posted wait time was 30 minutes, but the actual wait time was 55 minutes (we did the FP while some friends did the standby line).

That happened to us on New Years Eve. The time posted for HM was 60 minutes and we only waited about 25.

Actually.. I'm not sure if they fixed it or anything.. but we went on the Haunted Mansion about a week ago and the wait said "60 minutes" but there were CMs at the entrance saying "the actual standby wait is only 10 minutes... our sign is broken.."

Yes indeed, we had the same experience at the Haunted Mansion back in November, 2005. Boy, it's a small world after all...:D

Wow, that is a long wait time. I know it was the holidays, but wow.
My last trip was in August and it was always 60 to 70 mintues and we waited one night right before Illuminations started and the wait time went down, but it was still 30 mintues.

Soarin's "FLIK" system, the cards used to calculate the wait time, automatically adds 20-30 minutes to the wait that FLIK determines. So, therefore, if your FLIK only takes 20 minutes, it will post a wait of 40 or 50 minutes...kind of wierd...

The first time I experienced Soarin' I made it a point to count the number of people that were designated to stand on each "spot" on the floor. I then did the simple math to figure the capacity. I also saw a few people that "chickened out" at the last moment and the CM's quickly got a few new riders from the queue. The CM's do a great job!

Before leaving Epcot on the 27th, the sign near WOL said that the wait for Soarin' was 150 mins. It was at least 100 mins all day long. Fast pass was the only way to go. The crowds were crazy busy. Even Living with the Land had a fastpass going and the wait for standby was about 60-90 mins all day, if not a little longer.

Mission Space had long lines too, we got 2 fastpasses, but we never went on the ride, we went to the ride with 30 mins left on the passes and gave them to some kids that were just arriving, at that time of night the wait was about 20 mins standby. They thanked us for them.

I'm glad you mentioned the long wait time at Living with the Land. When Living with the Land first opened, it was a very popular attraction and the queue was always packed. After the novelty wore off, Living with the Land declined in popularity and for many years it was usually a walk-on attraction. However, in recent years (about the last 2 or 3) the popularity of Living with the Land has obviously increased because I don't think I've ever seen a standby time of less than 20 minutes.

Does anyone know why Living with the Land seems to have increased in popularity?

The addition of Fastpass helped it out before the rehab. Rumors said that they decreased capacity to make the attraction worthy of Fastpass, but I have no idea if that was accurate. But when FP was introduced, you saw walkons become 30 minute waits. Now I'm sure Soarin' has helped quite a bit

That's the answer! Even before Soarin', I noticed the seeming increase in the standby times. I forgot that they added FP. I also vaguely remember something about a reduction in the boat capacity about this same time. It makes more sense now. Thank you!
