So with savedisney.com closing in a few weeks...

You'd better download the entire mess to your hard drive, while you can. You won't be hearing any more of Roy or Stan BS for the next five years!

Not many.

While I fully supported the cause, I didn't always support the implementation.

How many desperate "photo essays" can one put up?

The best articles I read at SaveDisney were links to other articles at other sites - but after awhile, it became clear that certain Disney sites were just writing negative articles just to get picked up by SaveDisney's feed so I just stopped checking those either.

So, in short...again, not much. I tend to save anything of note after I read it, but can't recall saving anything directly from SaveDisney. Guess it depends on what you were looking for at that site.

Facts & history about savedisney.com

Some of the history and facts about www.savedisney.com:

The domain name is owned by Shamrock Holdings Inc. (www.shamrock.com), which Roy E. Disney owns and Stanley P. Gold is president.

The day after Roy resigned from the Walt Disney Co. (11.30.03), he registered the domain names: savedisney.com, savedisney.net, and savedisney.org

The original site was plain in text, with a message from Roy stating:
Roy E. Disney said:
Welcome to Save Disney.com. This website is devoted to those concerned about the welfare of The Walt Disney Company and its future direction. Stan Gold and I plan to use this site as a central information location as we begin to restore Disney to its position as the preeminent entertainment company in the world. We have also provided a mechanism for all interested parties to provide ideas, comments, concerns and input, and we sincerely hope that you will communicate with us.

I thank you for your concern about this wonderful Company founded by my father and uncle more than 80 years ago whose sole motivation was to provide lasting and wholesome entertainment to people around the world. I seek your support as we embark on this extremely important mission to restore the magic and wonder to The Walt Disney Company.
(Taken from December 10, 2003 version of savedisney.com)

The original site even had direct e-mail contact to Roy Disney, instead of using forms. And, all the resignation letters were in original .pdf version.

The site was changed on Jan. 26, 2005 to a more colorful version, similar to the version we see today.

The domain name is scheduled to expire December 1, 2005, so even after the site officially closes down on Aug. 7 2005, the domain name will not be available.

These are a few things I've found out, and just thought I'd post them here to share with everyone.
