I am suprising my Mom for her birthday with a tirp to Disney World!! It's been so hard not to slip!! We arrive on September 17!! It's a 4 night trip staying at AoA. I'm telling her on her Birthday on September 6.
Mom is getting older and she LOVES Disney, and I wanted to make this as memoriable as possible. So any sugestions to make it a little extra special I would greatly appreciate!!

Maybe a limo from the airport if you are flying into Orlando. It may be a little late to reserve but a Wishes or Illuminations cruise on a guided pontoon boat has always been special and memorable for us. A special birthday acknowledgment during a dinner would be nice too. A couple nice souvenirs placed in the room at some point would be a great surprise.

Just remember to let the restaurants that you'll be eating at that week know it's her special day so they can do something extra for her. I know you can buy a cake that they present to the guest of honor and it's really nice. If you don't want to pay for the cake some of the restaurants will bring out a complimentary birthday treat if you let them know in advance.

We surprised my mom & stepdad one year with a trip to WDW. It was at their anniversary dinner. We planned out a game similar to Hangman. We got an older niece & nephew to play against them. They were sort of in on it. They didn't know what the prize was, but they knew they were going to lose. The phrase was "You're going to Walt Disney World". The look on their faces was priceless. The kids went nuts. We handed them their "prize" which was the itinerary, Birnbaum, Passporter, and a few more small Disney gifts. It was so much fun for my sister & me to do this for them this way. Make it fun!

Along the same line, I made a slide show of some of my Disney photos. I added different captions to each photo, & added music. Then at the end, we put a caption that announced that the kids were going to WDW. It was a blast to make, and the kids loved it. However, we did not get to take them. My sister got sick with pneumonia and died from complications. We will work on their vacation next year.

Thanks for the great ideas!! I've let the restaurants that I have ADR's know that we are celebrating her birthday. I've decided to start the suprise out at Breakfast on her birthday. She loves the French Toast from Breakfast of Cinderella's Castle, and I found the recipe for it. So I'm going to make that for her for breakfast, figured that would be a good way to start off the suprise. I have the documents wrapped up in a large box that she has to open multiple boxes to get to the documents. I've already planned a limo to take us from the airport to the hotel and back.
Thanks for all of the great ideas.....any others are greatly appreciated!!

I know the feeling of trying to hold onto a surprise. We surprised our girls last summer...made it all the way to the Maingate, and this trip is also a surprise...2 months from your surprise date is when I get to break the news.

While you can add a cake to any meal when you check in, Disney can do some pretty amazing custom cakes. It's usually good to put in the order about 2 weeks before the date, but I've known them to do them w/less time. Just make sure you're very detailed w/private dining and/or the chef so you're getting a really special cake. If you need more info- PM me. :)
