So, Disney knows where we are....

Since it has been firmly established that we can be extensively tracked with our Magic Bands, is it possible for them to track down lost children with the code from their band?
If so, shouldn't they advertise this as a feature?

The band has no GPS or "tracking" in it so no, they cannot find a lost child in the park and unless they make a change to the band will be unable to do so ever. A CM with access to a reservation system can however, scan a child's band and access their reservation information (which usually has a phone number) and call the parent to find them. The only way that you can be "tracked" is by when you use the touchpoints. So yes, Disney will know if you entered a park, activated a FP+, purchased something, etc. That being said, they don't care exactly where YOU are. It's all a numbers game, x number used touchpoint A while y number used touchpoint B and so on and so fourth.

The lack of GPS does not mean that the MagicBands cannot be tracked beyond the touch points, and they are tracked outside those points.

They can't stalk an individual person, CSI style, as they walk around a theme park. The best they can do is log your positions in a more global sense. There's no glowing dot on a virtual map that can follow a guest around. And if that were a possibility, they will never have enough bandwidth to do that on a large scale.

Wouldn't see why not. A child could approach a CM. All would be needed would be for the CM to tell the child to tap a FP reader. Certainly, a record would show up showing the child's name and a failed attempt at a ride (thereby establishing location). Now as for locating the parent...
