I am sure this was already discussed but I missed it!! What ate they replaces snow whites ride and why did it really have to close?? I know they are doing the mine train but snow whites ride is or was totally different from the coaster they are building!! Feeling a little perplexed!! :(

It will become Princess Fairytale Hall for meet and greets. Scheduled to open in 2013.

I realized how much I missed it a week ago today. It was simple, yet classic and now that I think about it, a scary adventure! I'm interested to see the coaster. If it turns out like little mermaid in DCA, I'm going to scream in shock and pain. :-/

I didn't like the idea of it closing either. I feel they could have kept both. There is so much more than could do to Fantasyland there to make it more like Disneyland's.

The reasoning has to do with the original plans for the Fantasyland expansion and how they were altered to meet guest demand. The original expansion plan called for a single Little Mermaid ride and for the rest of the expansion to consist almost entirely of elaborate princess meet-and-greets. This was followed by mixed fan feedback and then a change in Parks & Resorts leadership, and then the new Prez came in and decided another ride was needed. The new ride was decided to be a Snow White roller coaster, to be built on the location of what was going to be the elaborate meet-and-greets. But because a place to meet the princesses was still "needed" (understandable, in my opinion) and having two Snow White rides adjacent to each other might be considered redundant, Disney decided the meet-and-greets would instead go into the old Snow White, and instead we would get the new roller coaster.

How people feel like this varies from person to person, but that's the "why" in a nutshell.

They closed it for a new M&G, as others have said. If you are wondering why they couldn't have kept Snow White, built the Mine Train (as evidenced by DL, it is not the end the world to have two rides themed to the same movie), and built a M&G... well, you got me. Originally they weren't even going to build the Mine Train (though the were going to keep Snow White). But then many complained that Disney wasn't adding a ride, just that good ol' mega meet and greet so Disney had to change the plans...but I don't think anyone was expecting them to axe Snow White when they announced the plans changed.

Now that this will be a princess M&G, will that change or affect the M&G on Main Street. Assuming they will keep Mickey there, will the Princesses stay? Or get replaced? I would love it to be either random daily but I have a feeling it will be like the main 5 crew.

Surely it wouldn't be any more redundant than the Magic Kingdom having, say, two "mountains" adjacent to each other. :(

Well, those could replace Stitch or the race cars lol
I was thinking a classic tale like Bambi, or Princess and the frog, or Tangled
I like your idea. Of the three you mentioned, I think Bambi would be the best for a dark ride. I think Disney really needs to make it clear to people that Bambi is a boy and not a girl
