Sneak Peak at PotC-Curse of the Black Pearl

Just came back from a sneak preview of Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl.

In a word, this movie is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was so worried that it was gonna be some lame adaptaion of the ride. I was very very pleasantly surprised. It's a very well done action movie in period costuming with very well done special effects and a bit of a love story thrown in for good measure.

I don't want to give any spoilers out because you really need to go see this. Jonny Depp and Geoffry Rush did a wonderful job in their lead rolls. Especially Jonny Depp.

The movie isn't exactly based on the ride. The opening credits say "inspired by Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean". But it does play homage to the ride. "Yo-ho, a pirates life for me" comes up in the movie a few times. You'll recognized a few of the characters from the ride. And there's even one sceen early on in the movie that looks like it's lifted exactly from the ride... same poses and everything.

I give this movie a resounding two thumbs up!!! Well done Disney and Bruckhiemer! :sohappy:

They also has a trailer for Haunted Mansion. This one I'm also worried might be a poor adaptation of the ride, but it did have some recognizable characters in it from the graveyard sceen in the ride, and of course it's called Gracey Mannor.

Glad to hear! I’m all depressed now because I somehow got it mixed up in my head that it was coming out this Wednesday (today) rather than next Wednesday. I guess I got confused because I thought the middle of the week release was a holiday weekend attempt like studios always try to do this time of year with their larger prospects (i.e. T3). :brick:

Was the Mansion trailer a full trailer or just the same teaser that's been rolling around for some time?

Full trailer. about 60 seconds long.

You see clips of the ghosts from the graveyard or around the house. You see a LOT of eddie murphy. you see jennifer tilly as madam leota, and from the brief part you get to see of her, she did a pretty good job, looks just like the ride.

Even though it comes out 9th July in the USA, we have to wait til 8th August for it to come out here in the UK

August 15th!!!!!! Well, I guess we're lucky in comparison then!
