Snack and Grocery Options

HI! We are planning our first trip to WDW in May with our 3.5 yo and 1 yo. We will be there 3 nights and 3 days with a DP. My question is: Is there a good place to buy a few things that will not travel well by plane, such as milk or water bottles? I've looked at Gardengrocer, but there is a $40 minimum delivery, and we honestly won't need that much since we will be eating breakfast and a few snacks in room. I really just want juice, milk, water, and a little fruit. I can bring the other snacks. Thank you!

Each resort has a small grocerie section in its giftshop. You can find the items you mentioned either there (milk & juice) or in the food court (fruit.) Be prepared to pay a premium though for the convenience. Fort Wilderness' Trading Posts and the DVC properties tend to have a slightly larger selection.

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
You can also order items you would want and have them delivered from Garden Grocer instead of packing anything at all. We love using them for water, and other essentials for me and DH. They are a little pricey but not really more than in the gift shops. Bell Services keeps items for you if they arrive before you, and refrigerate any items that need be and will deliver to your room when requested. :)

If you don't want to have to order groceries delivered, I recommend packing your own Brita filter pitcher (or filter water bottle) and not bothering with bottled water, and/or relying on the free iced water that is available on request at any WDW counter service restaurant, anywhere on property. As for milk and juice, they are available at every resort "gift shop," along with other staples. Although the cost is high, it's worth it if all you need is a small amount. If you have the standard dining plan, you're unlikely to need much in the way of snacks -- we found it to provide more food than we could possibly eat, and ended up with extra snack credits (which you can use for fruit, BTW), that we had to binge-use at the end of our stay. :)

The prices shown here -> http://advc.disney.go.com/media/dvc.../groceryorder/GroceryOrderForm_BCV_031413.pdf should be close to what they are in the on property store. It's a little old, so add a bit for WDW inflation. Non DVC resorts won't have nearly that selection, but milk and juice should be available in all resort gift shops. Compare those prices to the ones posted by GardenGrocer and see if it's worth it when you account for their minimum order amount and their delivery fee. As pointed out, look into a filter for a water bottle (you can get personal sized ones) to eliminate that requirement.

Whoa! $16 for 24 pk water! Are Cinderella's mice carrying it to my room (charging S&H?) That's crazy! The other stuff is doable, even though it is expensive. I will look into Brita filters and getting water at the parks. Maybe I'll also just bring a few water bottles from home too. I've seen someone mention Walmart.com too, but I'm not sure if that would work for what I need anyways. Thank you everyone!

Keep in mind it is Desani water and not Walmart water (I'm not saying there is anything wrong with Walmart water). They charge more because it cost more. I order beverages directly from Coke for the local little league and I usually buy about 300 cases of Desani and my cost is about .40 per bottle, it adds up.

Also think of it this way, provided they are 20 oz bottles, you are going to pay $2.50-$3.00 per bottle in the park. If you buy 6 or more bottles you should have gotten a case.

Hello, Long time lurker and doing my research, from what I read, there is a Hess Express gas station/convenient store that is located near downtown Disney. You can make your way to downtown Disney on the Disney bus and get the items you need and make your way back to your room without paying for shipping/fee/minimal orders. They even have cases of water for sale. If you google "Hess downtown Disney" you'll get some hits. Hope this helps.

Weather_Lady Does the filtered water bottle make the water taste better? I've the water at WDW is awful.

We usually end up getting a car because we fly into Tampa...but I've been thinking I might have some stuff Amazon'ed this time! Really if it wasn't for the adult beverages...I think Amazon could work for everything!

We may or may not have packed ours;) DH had his crown in his suitcase and I packed a few bottles of wine in mine. I figured it was just a place holder for some souvenirs

I have filtration items (both a Brita pitcher, and a filtered water bottle) that I've used on other trips, and yes, it absolutely makes the water taste better.

Frankly though, I grew up with hard well water, so I don't mind the taste of the WDW tap water, "straight." :)

LOL! I can totally picture Jaq, Gus and Bruno trying to push the case of water bottles up the resort stairs.
I've been on bed rest and have been home for 11 days. Clearly I need to get back to work. ...and yet, some small part of me wants to ask what resort you'll be at so that I can get a better visual.
