Anyone know what all is being done and when it is expected to be finished? It's my Mom's favorite ride and if it's not open when we go in less than 2 weeks, she's gonna go nuts lol.

New Paint, Boats, Queue area, Digital Soundtrack. I dont think much is going to change on the "core" ride.

What blackride said - I really wouldn't expect in Spring 2005 to go there and see a different ride. I just think the experience itself will be enhanced.

From the WDW Magic main page:

30 May 2004: Small Word rehab

To update on the Small World rehab, the official list of changes include:

- state-of-the-art digital sound capturing the original stereo soundtrack guests heard in 1964 when the attraction was a hit at the World's Fair in New York;
- refurbished characters and sets indoors;
- a redesigned entrance area featuring enhanced accessibility and more stroller parking.

This makes me happy that we are getting a digital audio version of the ORIGINAL sountrack from 1964. It's about time that Disney does something right with the classic rides :D . I can't wait to see the new ride, especially the all new queue area.

don't mind new boats as long as it isn't the ones form el rio de tempo. They sit too low in the water when loaded full or when a wheelchair is on them.

I also thought I read that the rehad was going to include redoing the load/ unload area some. I know that whole room needs serious cleaning and such but I thought i read it was going to be more than that right there.

wait

wait, you didnt know? Cmon, this is common knowledge. They are going to take the kids lost in the parking lots and use them in It's a Small World until their parents can come claim them, after they pay Disney for the rights to return them. (Extra spending money for Eisner).

I thought they were going to make it more interactive, by putting targets on the dolls and you get points for shooting them. :animwink:

Don't forget to add tons of hidden ladders... I can't believe how many hidden ladders there are in the newer attractions.

It's going to be a roller coaster, where the Heat Miser and Cold Miser take turns grabbing the car (boat) that you are in and tossing it into the different "lands." Then you make an attempt to find your kid (if you have one - or want him/her back), and make it out alive from the freefall before you get to the exit.

LOL

I'm Mr. Heat Miser, I'm Mr. Sun. I'm Mr. warm Christmas, I'm Mr. 101.
They call me Heat Miser, whatever I touch starts to melt in my clutch, I'm too much... :fork:

I'm Mr. Cold Miser, I'm Mr. Snow. I'm Mr. Cold Christmas, I'm Mr. 10 below.
They call me Cold Miser, whatever I touch turns to ice in my clutch, I'm too much! :xmas:

Hopefully they will add more features to the celing so its not so barren.

With the ceiling they should do some effect like in Splash Mountain. That ceiling should not be visible and should be somehow decorated with a thick mess.

BWA! I love it!

Actually, a friend of mine's band does a kick-azz version of this song during the holidays.

Are we getting the cool outside facade like every other Small World has? Because Castle tents and Castle walls aren't very archeticually appealing. Especially since Mary Blair had some mad skills with her facade designs.

Digital original soundtrack will be cool.

They need to lose the typical office-building 2x2 grid ceiling - the splash mountain idea is cool -- maybe some other sky-type ceiling and hide the vents in dark holes like they do on Splash.

Ladders are unavoidable - due to building code. I think they do a wonderful job of hiding them. However, they HAVE to be easily accessible and easy to locate in an emergency, which is why you see them.

They REALLY need to re-do the facades of the Fantasyland Dark Rides! They're all the same (well, Pooh and Phil have SOME detail to them now) but DL has those woods outside pooh, etc. Need something more than canopies and castle walls.

I remember hearing way back they were going to redo the facades of the Fantasyland attractions at WDW like they did at Disneyland back in 1983. Does anyone know if there's still talk of doing this? I think it would be a great idea and would make that section of the park look fantastic.
