Small ways to spruce up animal kingdom.

Now seeing the animals from a distance is fine and all that, but if you want guests to pay a huge price to basically a zoo theme park, well you better be doing better than the average zoo and theme park. For example sea world has more or less the same style of a park as ak, and yet its not only got better attractions, but interactive experiences with animals that actually make the experience special. The fact that I can pet and feed the dolphins, or pet a sting ray is really cool. Animal kingdom just doesn't really have any sort of exhibit like that (Don't say petting zoo, any child can experience that at their local fair). So I say they start putting in giraffe feeding stations like the one in the brevard zoo (Make people buy the treats and boom you have your cash TDO). More interactive elements like that but with exotic animals that guests could not be with/see everyday would not only be great, but really help shape animal kingdom into a park where you can honestly experience something with the animals that is special and unique. So what do you guys think? Should there be more animal centric things to do besides attractions? Or should they just focus on attractions solely?

Anything which allows a better and closer view of the animals would be good, especially a vantage spot for cameras. A lot of zoos have the enclosures specially designed to have unobstructed views.

I definitely would love to be able to have close up animal encounters at AK. I already love the park and really feel like I'm in the wild when I'm walking the trails and when I'm on the safari. But this would make the experience even more magical.

The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo here is ammmmmmazing! They have a giraffe encounter area, all of their exhibits get you very close! Even the lion exhibit gives the lions an opportunity to be nose to nose with you through the glass!

I would love AK to have something like that!

What I'd really love though is more RIDES and less of a carnival feel over by Dinosaur. We walked over there and it just felt tacky.

AK is still my 2nd favorite park though! I love it and love the Safari Ride, super close encounters or not ;)

I think they designed the Dino area to be tacky on purpose as a road side attraction. Whether that was a good idea is up for debate.

An Australia land would really be a neat thing to add to the park.

What sort of attractions would it have, though? The two things that Animal Kingdom is completely lacking are a slow dark ride and original characters.
Perhaps they could do both somehow.

Pity that the Finding Nemo show couldn't be located there.

What i enjoy at Busch Gardens in Tampa is that in their tiger habitat they allow you to pull on a rope when a tiger is pulling on it to see how strong a tiger is.

- Dinosaur refurb
- Australia is a great idea, but there is one thing I think should be preserved at Planet Watch: Being able to see the vets at work. That experience alone makes the train ride over there worth it.
- Make use of the waterways surrounding the Tree of Life. A small ferry taking people between the front, Africa, and Asia would make the park a lot easier to tour.

1. As others have stated, better interaction with the animals.
2. Fixing a neat-o ride like Dinosaur to it's former effects-rich status.
3. Better eateries that include more of a restaurant feel, and less of a "get a table while you can find one and let your family member order for you" feel.
4. Another 'big" ride on the level of Everest, except that design should not surpass function (as in a central piece that requires no strobe effects).
5. Better access to some type of refuge from the heat during the Summer months.

All in all, I seem to enjoy this park more than the average member here. I thinks it's a great place to spend the day.

The problem with your idea above is that people will feed the giraffe's or whatever animal things that will harm them (cause itz funny man and I canz putz a utoobs videoz of it online), and Disney already has the animal rights groups and aspca on their hind side over opening AK.

They once had straws in AK and there is a reason they don't now. Bad people hurting the animals on purpose for their own heartless cruel entertainment.

I dont think the park needs spruced up. Some new things could be cool though (not a big fan of avatar) i like theAustralia theme, an aquarium or Antarctic theme could be really good ad on. I love the park, the theming, size of the park, vegetation, animals, attractions. But it always ends up being a one visit park every visit :(. I guess because it is majorly a zoo and the crowds are always heavy there. Once you see the animals you dont really want to go straight back because we just seen them.

We are staying at animal world lodge next year so maybe we will go more than once next time.

i always liked how the bronx zoo puts you up close to the stars of the zoo, animal kingdom is certainly able to make this happen. the next step would caves or something where the guest really feels he or she is part of the animal world, almost to the point that they dont feel the protection of the zoo anymore, hide the separation so to speak.
