Small Group - Which Resort/Accommodations?

Hello All. I am organizing a group (6-8 adults) trip for September/October 2016. I am trying to figure out which resort/accommodations would work best for everyone. Here are a few stipulations :

1. Keeping the price as low as possible
2. Everyone is sleeping in a double or queen size bed (no sofa beds or roll outs)
3. Trying to keep everyone together or as close as possible
4. Possible getting the free dining in September if available (I believe with DVC its not available)
5. Staying on property

I was looking at several options:

1. Renting DVC points (like this options but need a good source and more information on how it works)
2. Booking 1 and 2 bedroom Villas (travel company or Disney)
3. Booking several Moderate or Value Resort rooms

Your suggestion and explanation is greatly appreciated.

Booking multiple value or moderate rooms will most likely be your best bet.

You would would probably have to violate your condition of no sofas or pullouts to make DVC work. You should also be able to use the free dining promotion if it becomes available at the value or moderate resorts.

You can request "adjoining rooms" followed by "rooms in the same building if adjoining not available" which will keep the group together.

If you don't mind the connecting door, I'd request connecting rooms first, and then adjoining, as adjoining just means "near each other".

The reason I suggested adjoining is twofold.

1. Not every room is connecting making the adjoining request easier for Disney to honor.
2. Not everyone wants another party to have that kind of access to their room.

I agree - but just wanted to let the OP know that to Disney room assigners "adjoining" can mean a few doors down or even across the hall. Many assume that adjoining means that a wall will be shared, and it may not be.

It wasn't clear how many people per room, etc. If keeping the amount as low as possible and staying on site, the best option is Value resorts. 2 adults per room would require 3-4 rooms. This gives the advantage of 2 people per bathroom. 1BR villas do not solve your problem through DVC because it is a king bed and a queen sleeper sofa. They also have 1 bathroom in the 1BR units. Looking at a DVC studio doesn't work because it is a queen bed and a pull out sleeper sofa.

My recommendation would be to head to Pop Century and enjoy. If you do not want to be around a ton of kids, then you need to step up from Value resorts. If you go Moderate, you won't go wrong with any of them. CSR is probably the best choice.

If you settle on hotel rooms I heartily endorse Pop Century. We've stayed there several times and have never been disappointed. If you want to go the DVC route I suggest the DVC Rental Store (dvcrentalstore.com), their website is very informative. We just booked our fall trip with them and it couldn't have been easier.

One thing I would highly recommend is going through a travel agent that specializes in Disney. The travel sponsor of this site, @Kingdom Konsultant is one such agency.

I have used them myself for about 9 years and even worked for them for about 3. They are quite use to dealing with large parties and know all of the ins and outs of making a large party trip work.

They do not charge for their services and they can remove all of the headaches that planning a trip like this can cause.
