Slow times at Universal?

I've never been to Universal and want to start to plan a trip a little while from now. We want to go to PotterLand and stay on site. Does Universal have a slow period during the year? Any information would be greatly appreciated!!!

We went during MLK weekend last year and it was surprisingly not too crowded. Refurbishments were minimal for that 'time of year' and the weather was pleasantly cool.

I went in the middle of November last year and both parks were really quiet, with most rides being 5-10 minutes waits. We actually fit most of the attractions across the parks in during one day, and slowed our pace right down as I'd planned a second visit later in the trip.

If you stay at one of the three hotels that give express line passes than it doesn't really matter when you go. I find Universal crowds much more bearable than Disney crowds. If you are looking to enjoy the pools and water rides I think the best time of year is late April and most of May. Crowds are manageable and the weather usually perfect.

Crowds and crowd patterns are very inconsistent. Wait times can change drastically throughout the day. If you don't get an Express Pass, then I would strongly encourage arriving at park opening. Enjoy everything else first and end with Harry Potter. You will be able to get on everything with minimal waits (because everyone else is running to Harry Potter). If lines are too long for Forbidden Journey, there is always the single rider line. Same if you start out in the Studios. I'd much rather wait in the Harry Potter lines for three attractions than have to wait in long lines for the other 20 the resort offers.
