Hi All

Not completely sure this is the best thread but it's the most closely linked so I'll give it a shot.

I am wanting to create a CD for my parents anniversary this year (their 30th) and my sister and I wanted to find a way of showing photos mixed in with video (along with the ability to add captions, music etc).

Does anyone know the best program to use and where to get it ?:)

Thanks

I am not sure if it is the best, but it is very easy to use in my opinion. I use Pinnacle Studio Ultimate. Sony and Adobe have programs, but for my needs, they were too professional for what I wanted. I am not creating Hollywood film.

Here are a few I know of:

Adobe
Sony Vegas
Pinnacle Studio
Ulead
Windows Movie Maker

As for something simple and user friendly, i have no idea. I would try using Windows Movie Maker or iMovie based on whichever system you use.

I use Final Cut Express and Soundslides, which do way more than youre looking for.

I've used a program called DVD Photo Slideshow Professional before. You can caption photos, add title screens, choose from different wipes/transitions, etc. It's got a very simple interface, you just drag & drop the photos and music and it'll adjust the time per photo to match the length of the music.

I use Sony Vegas myself - very easy to use with excellant results. I've also used Pinnacle Studio in the past but had problems with audio sync issues.

That said, if you are going for something simple then you should be able to achieve something using the DVD Maker included with Windows - the version I have on my Vista machine supports image, video and music files and if you pre-render your video using the Movie Maker also included you can add effects, transitions and titles to your video and then use the DVD Maker to put it all together.
