We've often had 1 adult only sleeping on a sleeper sofa or just one child and for one person they are fine IMO. You can also ask for egg crate toppers to help if it isn't comfortable enough.

I'm pretty sure all sleeper sofas are uncomfortable. Maybe take a trip to walmart and get a cheap mattress topper for it. Also if the mattress on it is old and worn, I would go to front desk and ask them nicely if they could please switch it out for a new one. I have had them switch out a bed mattress for me once because it was so old and lumpy that it was stabbing me in the back. They were very nice about it and brought a new one right away.

Given the cost of Disney, we changed our reservation from a studio that had a sleeper sofa, to another room with two queens. I'm so glad I did. We've stayed at (non-disney) resorts that had sleeper sofas, and my kids (or myself) always hated it

I would switch to a room set up that doesn't have your mom on a sleeper sofa. I'm guessing I'm a bit older than you, but to me it is also a matter of seeing to your mom's comfort before your own. There is no way I could sleep on a bed if my mom was on a sofa bed or fold out, but that maybe is the older generation in me talking.

They would have to go up to a 2 bedroom. That would be a huge financial upgrade. Other option is switch resorts.

Depends if they sofas have been replaced at SSR. I can’t recall. The old ones there were awful. The newer ones I’ve been on at BWV and Poly studios are not bad at all.

Perhaps they have a "2 bed" option like 2 queen size beds. Or a rollaway bed that can be much more comfortable. If not then I'd go for asking for an egg crate topper. They are very comfortable.

I have never slept on one of the said couch beds but I am betting you could purchase an air mattress or pad and put it on top of the bed to make it more comfortable.
