The Skyliner is neat. I remember asking a while back: are they routable?
Meaning: Could I get in one at, say, Pop Century and ride it all the way to Epcot.
When I asked, I think it was @marni1971, I was told, "no".
This greatly diminishes the value of the Skyliner to me.
If I get in a Caribbean Beach and have non-stop access to Epcot and DHS then that's great! I don't think that's the case either. I think, from what I've gathered, I'd only have non-stop access to Epcot.
From what it sounds like:
If I'm at Caribbean Beach:
- I wait in a line (hopefully not as long as the old MK Sky Ride line) for a lift to Epcot - done.
- I wait in a line to head South to a terminal where I get out and then wait in another line to head to DHS - done.. but that kind of sucks.
If I'm at Pop Century:
- I wait in a line (same deal as before with MK - hoping it's not as bad) and then ride to a transfer station (to DHS) which I will have to get off and get in another cabin to had to CBR which I'll then have to get off and get back in a line to finally head to Epcot (this sucks)
- I wait in a line, get in a cabin and head to the terminal where I get back out and then get back in another line to wait to head to DHS. (not as bad as Epcot but still sucks).
First: Old, 1970s Disney, would have somehow routed the buckets.
Second: Unless I'm on a particular non-stop voyage, this transportation seems like it'd suck. Maybe suck slightly less if it's not a busy day but we're still in suck-territory with having to get out and get back in.
You could make the parallel of: "Well, if you're at the MK and want to go to Epcot you have to get out and then get back in a line to take the Epcot monorail!"
- Yes, you do. It sucks and is stupid. With one simple modification to the track you could just stay on-board and your next top would be Epcot.
What I'm wondering is: Is it going to be like this or am I just imagining the worst?
